New Jerusalem has a perimeter wall over 200 feet high with twelve gates to control the flow of traffic into and out of the city. Only the saved are allowed into the city, and no one else:<\/p>\n
“\u202d\u202dAnd he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,\u202d \u202d\u202dHaving the glory of God: and her light \u202dwas\u202d like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;\u202d \u202d\u202dAnd had a wall great and high, \u202dand\u202d had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are \u202dthe names\u202d of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:\u202d \u202d\u202dOn the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.\u202d \u202d\u202dAnd the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.\u202d \u202d\u202dAnd he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.\u202d \u202d\u202dAnd the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.\u202d \u202d\u202dAnd he measured the wall thereof, an hundred \u202dand\u202d forty \u202dand\u202d four cubits, \u202daccording to\u202d the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.\u202d \u202d\u202dAnd the building of the wall of it was \u202dof\u202d jasper: and the city \u202dwas\u202d pure gold, like unto clear glass.\u202d \u202d\u202dAnd the foundations of the wall of the city \u202dwere\u202d garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation \u202dwas\u202d jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;\u202d \u202d\u202dThe fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.\u202d \u202d\u202dAnd the twelve gates \u202dwere\u202d twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city \u202dwas\u202d pure gold, as it were transparent glass.\u202d \u202d\u202dAnd I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.\u202d And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb \u202dis\u202d the light thereof.\u202d And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.\u202d And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.\u202d” Who does the wall keep out? The Scriptures offer us a clear answer. The unsaved. Those who do not have a wedding garment, which is the righteousness of Jesus Christ:<\/p>\n “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
