There is something special about being in a quiet, high, secluded place. It is like a special closet. Jesus apparently very much loved going to high mountains, to pray, to preach, to perform miracles, to communicate with Heaven, to seek refuge and to secretly rendezvous with His followers:<\/p>\n
“And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.” “And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” “And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering . . . \u202d\u202dAnd it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.” “And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:” “\u202d\u202dAnd straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.\u202d And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.” “And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,” “When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.” “And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light . . . \u202d\u202dAnd as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.” “Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.” “And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth \u202dunto him\u202d whom he would: and they came unto him.” “And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them . . . And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.” “And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples . . .
