Don’t you love power outages?
\nNo, they are really not so great,
\nBecause then I have to worry,
\nAbout my dear computer’s fate.<\/p>\n
Will databases get corrupted,
\nSo that my website goes down?
\nAnd when I check out my blog,
\nWill there be anyone around?<\/p>\n
But on Guam where I now live,
\nOutages are a simple fact of life,
\nJust pray one does not happen,
\nWhen you go to marry your wife.<\/p>\n
The lights will suddenly go out,
\nAnd the organ music will stop,
\nAs for the officiating preacher,
\nHe’ll have to start from the top.<\/p>\n
Then there’s watching a movie,
\nThat brings tears to your eyes,
\nBut bam! Out goes the power,
\nGosh, not a very nice surprise!<\/p>\n
Family dinner time now arrives,
\nFood is on your electric range,
\nLoad shedding then strikes you,
\nHalf-cooked food is so strange.<\/p>\n
You hope to take a hot shower,
\nBefore you jump into your bed,
\nYour hair is all shampooed up,
\nWater heater just went dead.<\/p>\n
Bedtime story hour has started,
\nKids picked out a favorite book,
\nPower company has other plans,
\nYou’ll have to wait Captain Hook.<\/p>\n
No doubt you can obviously see,
\nLife on Guam is very exciting,
\nWell unless you’re not from here,
\nThen it may not seem so inviting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
