Now quite a few decades ago,
\nBefore greed came to the fore,
\nCars were made so much better,
\nThough mileage was quite poor.<\/p>\n
They were built like a tank,
\nThick, heavy metal all around,
\nOffering a driver protection,
\nThey were vehicles quite sound.<\/p>\n
But then something bad happened,
\nAs better mileage was in demand,
\nSo manufacturers took a shortcut,
\nAnd they really got out of hand.<\/p>\n
After thinking on it for a while,
\nLighter materials was their ploy,
\nPlastics and aluminum were used,
\nOur cars were now just like a toy.<\/p>\n
You see, before drivers were safe,
\nIf they got into some auto wreck,
\nA car would suffer minimal damage,
\nDon’t believe me? Just go check.<\/p>\n
Sure, some people died back then,
\nYes, that’s always been the case,
\nBut so many more folks die today,
\nIn part due to the mileage race.<\/p>\n
Today even the slightest impact,
\nCan seriously damage a modern car,
\nIt will fold up like an accordion,
\nYou’re trapped like a bug in a jar.<\/p>\n
Indeed it can be death on wheels,
\nIf a bad accident comes your way,
\nSo before you even begin to drive,
\nI hope you take some time to pray.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
