A NOD TO NERO<\/p>\n

They say that history repeats itself,
\nSadly, it seems that it may be true,
\nIf you were a Christian in Nero’s day,
\nYou would’ve found yourself in a stew.<\/p>\n

Crazed Nero desired to rebuild Rome,
\nSo a most devious plan he did conspire,
\nTo make room for his construction plans,
\nHe ordered that the city be set on fire.<\/p>\n

How to do it without getting caught,
\nSo they would not cast on him the blame,
\nThere was a sect called the Christians,
\nAnd those gents Nero began to defame.<\/p>\n

They don’t even worship our Roman gods,
\nAnd even eat human flesh and drink blood,
\nThus it was with his false accusations,
\nNero dragged their name through the mud.<\/p>\n

The lie caught on and persecution began,
\nThe Christians were hated and crucified,
\nThough they were not guilty of the crime,
\nYet still many of those good folks died.<\/p>\n

Today the very same ploy has been used,
\nIn which sinners have taken the reins,
\nThey accuse us of hatred and bigotry,
\nTo slander us they’ll go to great pains.<\/p>\n

But just like Nero, they are the guilty,
\nBecause they rebel against God’s Laws,
\nThey paint us as homophobes and worse,
\nBut they surely do it without just cause.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
