NIGHT OWL

by Bill Kochman

12-12-2016

She was a girl who rarely slept,
No one knew what made her go,
While others were sawing logs,
She’d be watching her TV show.

That woman had some energy,
While her hubby dragged along,
“Come on old man, get some gas,
You act like something’s wrong.”

But then when the Sun came up,
That gal would just hit the sack,
Gotta take time, refuel the cell,
‘Cause late tonite she’ll be back.

NEWS MEDIA WOLVES

by Bill Kochman

11-22-2017

The news media is a pack of wolves,
It’s clear that many have no heart,
They’ll do anything for publicity,
And absolutely rip your life apart.

They are pros at digging up sludge,
They’re like sharks smelling blood,
Be very careful, stay clear of them,
They’ll drag your name thru the mud.

Dogs without mercy and no remorse,
They’ll chew you up and spit you out,
Exaggerating stories to make a buck,
Caring little what the truth’s about.

They’ll take what you say, mix it up,
Twisting and perverting real facts,
When you read it, you’ll be shocked,
Watch out when they lower their axe.

Unscrupulous and as sly as any fox,
They are in it just to get a good story,
Ignore their deceptive, fake smiles,
All they really want is byline glory.

NEW ORLEANS

by Bill Kochman

12-07-2016

Well I really am so sorry,
I have to give you the news,
Saints don’t go marching in,
Playing New Orleans blues.

That city is just so wicked,
Black magic all around I see,
Everyone has their mojo bag,
They say it makes them lucky.

Sexual deviance is rampant,
It is really beyond the pale,
Nothing heavenly about it,
It is more just like Hell.

NEW BEGINNINGS

by Bill Kochman

01-01-2017

Each day gives us a new chance,
To again serve our living God,
Even though if just yesterday,
He had to pull out His rod.

Mercy is renewed each morning,
Thus we can each begin anew,
For if it were some other way,
What in the world would we do?

So thank God for new beginnings,
Where our slate is washed clean,
We’re cleansed in Blood of Jesus,
All previous sins remain unseen.

NEVER SEEN AN ANGEL

by Bill Kochman

12-05-2016

I’ve never really seen an Angel,
I’d more than likely flip my lid,
Then I would faint on the ground,
Just like those old Prophets did.

Yes it would no doubt be amazing,
But much more than I could bear,
I can’t imagine what I would say,
As I beheld that creature there.

Maybe that’s why seeing Angels,
Are such rare events indeed,
It makes a lot of sense to me,
And I think that God agreed.

NEVER SEEN AN ALIEN

by Bill Kochman

12-05-2016

I’ve never seen an alien or UFO,
I don’t know if they truly exist,
But considering how great God is,
In the Universe life must persist.

To proclaim that we’re all alone,
In a space that’s so far and grand,
Seems to be an idea very arrogant,
Which I do not quite understand.

It is really not for us to limit,
What the Lord can or cannot do,
So I prefer to take it by faith,
Perhaps you will believe this too.

NEVER CAST OUT

by Bill Kochman

12-16-2016

Jesus taught if we come to Him,
He will never cast anyone out,
And tho men try to pluck us too,
We’re His forever, do not doubt.

It is His promise, millennia old,
Yet still holding true this day,
Father in Heaven keeps His word,
No matter what scoffers may say.

They may lie, deceive and renege,
And reverse everything they state,
But when it’s about our Salvation,
God’s Word is never second rate.

NASTY ELECTION

by Bill Kochman

11-27-2016

Some were for Clinton, some for Trump,
And nasty things happened on the stump.
Election passed, Trump took the prize,
But something fishy in liberals’ eyes.

Lies were spewed, and accusations made,
Is is true some protesters were paid?
Don’t like the outcome, want to fight,
They claim the election was too tight.

Clinton conceded, but they don’t care,
They insist that the vote’s not fair.
It’s time to move on, accept you lost,
Will you divide the nation at any cost?

NARROW-MINDED MAN — a poem and song by Bill Kochman

NARROW-MINDED MAN

by Bill Kochman

04-06-18

I knew a narrow-minded man,
Who walked a very narrow way,
He talked about Jesus Christ,
All the live long day.

Some folks didn’t like his message,
Not a word he had to say,
But he was determined to remain,
Faithful come what may.

No feel-good sermons did he preach,
No, not a single one,
His critics griped and groaned,
“Man, you’re just no fun!”

“You need to loosen up”, they said,
“This is a modern day.”
“God accepts us just the way we are,
We won’t have to pay.”

But he refused to bow to pressure,
He preached just God’s straight Word,
Those fools eventually walked away,
As if they hadn’t even heard.

Don’t you be like those folks,
Repent of your every sin,
If you do, God will know,
Someday His Kingdom you’ll walk within.

NANCY, NANCY

by Bill Kochman

01-24-2019

Nancy, Nancy, you’re just not fancy,
Your belligerence makes us so antsy.
You’ve really got a lot of nerve,
Hurting people you’re meant to serve.

Government shutdown, it’s on you,
What’s the president supposed to do?
A wall down south, it’s our right,
Why don’t you stop this silly fight?

We want protection but you say “Nay”,
So the feud drags on yet another day.
We’re not stupid, we know your game,
Tho you want Trump to take the blame.

But he is right, we need that wall,
So make peace and give him that call.
Now you try to stop Trump’s speech,
Gosh, girl, that’s really overreach.

You are digging the Dem’s own grave,
The 2020 election nothing will save.
People are angry and upset at you,
Nancy, Nancy, is your career through?

MY HOME IN HEAVEN

by Bill Kochman

05-04-2014

How I long for my Home in Heaven,
Away from this wicked Earth,
Where smiles are often daggers,
And sadness disguised as mirth.

People have become so shallow,
Not saying what they truly mean,
So quick to use one another,
This life has become so obscene.

But in my real Home in Heaven,
No one is played for the fool,
Our Father carries a big stick,
And Love is the Golden Rule.

MY FATHER’S BELOVED

by Bill Kochman

08-22-2014

I am my Father’s beloved,
He takes such good care of me,
All of my needs are met,
Before I even make a plea.

He surrounds me with protection,
Though His angels I cannot see,
When Satan sends his minions,
They say “Let that dear child be!”

I have no need to worry,
As I rest in my Father’s arm,
His peace I have within me,
I shall never come to harm.

MY FATHER THE ARTIST

by Bill Kochman

04-09-14

My Father is such a great artist,
None on Earth can possibly compare,
He started out with a blank canvas,
And in Six Days everything was there.

He had so many colors to work with,
Blue for oceans and the sky above,
Green for flowers, trees and grasses,
White for clouds, snow and the dove.

Red and orange splashed the sunsets,
Black graced His starry night sky,
His beauty amazes and astounds me,
His great love for us makes me cry.

MOVE ON ALREADY!

by Bill Kochman

12-26-2016

So you suffered defeat,
At the ballot boxes,
It’s time to move on now,
Just accept your losses.

Need to stop your whining,
As if you bear crosses,
Holding grudges is dumb,
Tell your party bosses.

Prez too needs to grow up,
Rolling stone? No mosses,
Even if the new leader,
All his old laws tosses.

MOUTHWASH PLEASE

by Bill Kochman

11-29-2016

Years ago when we were just kids,
Our parents could be quite rough,
Soap in mouth, pepper on tongue,
My gosh those times were tough.

But one thing is also certain,
We learned to control our mouth,
But if we acted disrespectfully,
We’d sure get it on our south.

But today it’s so very different,
Little kids even use the f-bomb,
We really should not blame them,
It’s the fault of their dad and mom.

MORE RIGHTEOUS THAN PHARISEES

by Bill Kochman

12-18-2016

Unless you’re more righteous than Pharisees,
On one occasion the Lord Jesus Christ said,
Your situation appears really quite dire,
And into Heaven you surely will not be led.

But the true purpose of the Lord’s words,
Was definitely not to extinguish all hope,
It was meant to help His listeners realize,
That they’re saved by grabbing God’s rope.

Of course we know that simply means Jesus,
Because to Eternal Life He is the only way,
Cleansed by His Blood we become righteous,
And on Heaven’s streets we’ll be someday.

MOORED TO HIS WORD

by Bill Kochman

08-24-2014

If you are wise you won’t despise,
The wonderful words of the Lord,
Keep your eyes off of Satan’s size,
And pick up your spiritual sword.

Time to rise and fight for your prize,
Looking back you just cannot afford,
For he who cries when Satan tries,
Will simply fall to his lying horde.

I strongly advise that you exercise,
Make sure to the Word you are moored,
So if that demon pries with his lies,
You will not just fall overboard.

MONEY, POLITICS, RELIGION

by Bill Kochman

06-30-2019

Money, politics, religion,
Don’t ever dare discuss,
For if you do, watch out,
Someone will make a fuss.

People with smiling faces,
Oh they all seem so kind,
Till you broach said topics,
They’ll hit you from behind.

Suddenly you see daggers,
Smiles turn to an evil hiss,
It’s time to make your exit,
And hope that they all miss.

Families become so divided,
Friendships just disappear,
When our opinions differ,
We just don’t want to hear.

So it is with us Christians,
Our message turns some away,
May God soften their hearts,
So they’ll be saved someday.

MONEY-SUCKIN’ PREACHER

by Bill Kochman

07-28-2014

He had the looks and he had the style,
A money-suckin’ preacher on the TV dial.
He sounded so suave, he gave you a grin,
You wrote out a cheque, you sent it in.

He doesn’t really care about your soul,
All he really wants is to fill his bowl.
That lying wolf loves suckers like you,
He’ll ask for more till you’re in a stew.

You will lose your house and your car,
Keep givin’ to him and you won’t get far.
So turn off the telly, send him no more,
If he comes knockin’, don’t open the door.

MOBILE PHONE MURDER

by Bill Kochman

01-02-2017

Some boys can be such bullies,
But they are not all alone,
Online girls are just as bad,
When they use a mobile phone.

It really is quite shameful,
The hatred that is now sown,
These people reveal one thing,
They have not really grown.

But the worst tragedy of all,
Is one I hope I do not see,
It’s when such hateful words,
Lead to a murder by proxy.
