SPACE RACE

by Bill Kochman

Ever since the early 1960s,
There has been a great race,
The super powers are in on it,
They want to conquer space.

For me it presents a dilemma,
When I look at our own place,
Wars are everywhere we look,
It is really such a big disgrace.

So much fighting and killing,
Sadly many problems we face,
Now if such things occur here,
Why leave our earthly base?

We should not reach the stars,
Until we slow our violent pace,
It is simply not our right to do,
I think I’ve made a solid case.
