FROM ROCK TO THE ROCK

by Bill Kochman

I used to be one of those headbangers,
Although I never really banged my head,
I was into some early great rock bands,
Many are now very old or already dead.

The Who, Chicago, Led Zepplin, Santana,
Moody Blues, Creedence, Alan Parsons too,
The Doors and Emerson Lake and Palmer,
Wow, Pink Floyd was so spacey it’s true.

Crosby Stills Nash and Young plus Toto,
Phil Collins, Abba, Lobo, Iron Butterfly,
Electric Light Orchestra, Eagles, Kansas,
Some of those old songs really made me fly.

There was Susie Q and In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida,
Plus Riders on the Storm and Old and Wise,
Nights in White Satin and Eye in the Sky,
Man, I just really loved all of those guys.

But you see, those days are now behind me,
As Paul wrote, I am no longer that child,
For long ago God’s Spirit took hold of me,
And I have ceased to be so young and wild.

For many years now I have had a mission,
A message of hope better than any old song,
The Lord invites you to His Home in Heaven,
My prayer is that you will also come along.
