NOT SO SMART

by Bill Kochman

11-24-2016

When we’re young we think we’re so smart,
Well, much more so than that old fart.
He just sits there with a great big grin,
We have no idea exactly where he’s been.

So we ignore the great wisdom he shares,
Nobody even looks at him, nobody cares.
We get into trouble, stew in our juice,
And soon we’re hanging in our own noose.

We’re not so smart after all, it seems,
That old man with a knowing look beams.
So next time we’ll listen to his advice,
And not be so cocky, and be more nice.
