THE ONLY ONE

by Bill Kochman

There are times we often feel,
As if we are the only one,
Our friends don’t understand,
Why we believe in God’s Son.

Even our family members too,
Will criticize and walk away,
They think something’s wrong,
Just because we like to pray.

And if we dare to even think,
Of opening God’s Holy Book,
Don’t be the least surprised,
If they give you a dirty look.

We are treated like strangers,
Even though we are in a crowd,
It just seems that our beliefs,
Are shunned and not allowed.

“Oh, there goes that oddball!”
Someone may be heard to say,
But will they change their mind,
When it comes to Judgment Day?

Life as a believing Christian,
Isn’t always such an easy task,
But we cannot hide our faith,
Behind some hypocritical mask.

We must simply be who we are,
And let God be the final Judge,
Standing firmly on our faith,
We must never move or budge.
