BREATHE!

I saw in a late night vision,
The pollution was so great,
Due to our own foolishness,
We had surely sealed our fate.

Gas masks found everywhere,
Not a safe place in our land,
Many fights for hazmat suits,
They were in high demand.

That was not the worst of it,
The sky above was our foe,
With so much toxicity,
It simply had no place to go.

Thus began the explosions,
Over cities great and small,
When lightning lit up the sky,
There was no one left at all.

So many deep, dark craters,
Made by that heavenly fire,
Some folks were wondering,
Was it just the Lord’s ire?

How God had so blessed us,
With more than we deserved,
But we threw it all away,
Pollution we had not curved.

So many years of acid rain,
Plastics mounting in the deep,
Oil spills and chemicals leaks,
The Earth we so failed to keep.

Now we received the rewards,
Of such thoughtless behavior,
It was time to cry out now,
To our one and only Savior.

Perhaps He would show mercy,
Despite how we had all been,
Would He give us a break?
Couldn’t we just begin again?
