BLACK HEART

Oh you have such a black heart,
It is so plain to see in your eyes,
You’re filled with much darkness,
You believed that old Devil’s lies.

Although I’ve tried to reach you,
Your pride just gets in your way,
You laugh at all my preaching,
And refuse to hear a word I say.

So convinced you know better,
You simply scoff at God’s Book,
When I try to show you verses,
You resist taking a single look.

You think my beliefs are funny,
You’re persuaded I’m not smart,
But someday you will face God,
And He will order you to depart.

Only then will it finally hit you,
What an utter fool you’ve been,
And despite your desperate cry,
The angels just won’t let you in.

Yes, away they’ll then take you,
To a place you don’t want to go,
You will be consumed by the fire,
For a truth you refused to know.

Oh, indeed this is such a sad tale,
It happens many times each day,
Folks so hardened in their hearts,
They fully reject God’s holy way.

Let my poem serve as a warning,
Don’t resist when given a chance,
When you hear talk about Jesus,
Don’t dare take a foolish stance.

Believe the word that is spoken,
Be humble and accept the Lord,
Because there’s two destinations,
And one you really can’t afford.
