POLITICIAN’S GAME

He said he wanted to serve the people,
But then he really only served himself,
Yeah, that man took every opportunity,
Just to increase his personal wealth.
Such a situation is really quite common,
We have seen it so many times before,
It seems that once they have won office,
They forget what we put them there for.
There is so much money under the table,
So they will choose to vote a certain way,
You know they did not become that rich,
Just by earning a politician’s annual pay.
Yeah, something fishy must be going on,
They’re making illegal money on the side,
They’ll even resort to offshore accounts,
As all their money they endeavor to hide.
Meanwhile all their voters & constituents,
So struggle to make ends meet each day,
Yet their leaders all live high off the hog,
Man I’m so irked I don’t know what to say.
Our political system has become corrupt,
No doubt it’s polarized through & through,
It is no longer about helping their people,
Damaging the other party they want to do.
Yeah, party survival is now their main goal,
So no more shaking hands across the isle,
They’ve become so frozen in their positions,
And so passing bills takes a very long while.
They’re really just like sharks out for blood,
Very hungrily they search for their next meal,
If the other party is promoting a good thing,
Quick! We need to work fast to kill their bill.
And thus all the people continue to suffer,
No relief appears to be anywhere in sight,
High prices & taxes consume our savings,
I wish someone would make things right.
But as for me I’m really a very simple man,
I possess no wealth or power or any fame,
Yet I see through all their smoke & mirrors,
So I refuse to play in their political game.
