DISTRACTIONS

by Bill Kochman

This world is full of distractions,
For every single Christian soul,
That Devil wants to pull us apart,
While God wants to keep us whole.

Even though we try to keep our eyes,
On the heavenly vision that’s ahead,
Satan throws distractions our way,
You know, he’d like to see us dead.

It comes from an ancient Latin word,
Which just means to be drawn apart,
We try to go the direction God gave,
But other thoughts enter our heart.

A single eye is what Jesus advised,
No, don’t be looking any other way,
For if you do, you’ll get tripped off,
Then consequences you’ll surely pay.

So strive to keep eyes on the Lord,
And before you He says He will go,
He’s fully aware of Satan’s devices,
This one thing you ought to know.
