LET ME SLEEP!

by Bill Kochman

I just wanted to stay asleep,
But he wouldn’t leave me alone,
That preacher said some things,
He invaded my personal zone.

I’m already happy with my life,
So why does he have to intrude?
Someone should really tell him,
That he’s being so awfully rude.

He is worried about my soul,
I often hear preacher guy say,
He warns me I need to repent,
Or I will regret it someday.

That may be what he believes,
But my mind took another route,
So all of that Bible quoting,
He really needs to cut it out.

Buddy, let me just inform you,
I’ve heard your sermons before,
And to be quite frank with you,
I find them to be such a bore.

That book you read is ancient,
It no longer applies today,
So why should I even listen,
To anything you have to say?

Yes, your Jesus was a great man,
But many great men come and go,
So please turn down your volume,
I am tired of hearing you crow.

Thus think many nonbelievers,
Our faith they scorn and mock,
As they sink lower in the mire,
And reject God’s one true Rock.

Just incorrigible reprobates,
So filled with their own pride,
But one day they will face God,
Where are they going to hide?
