The poetry you will find on the Bill’s Bible Basics website is NOT typical poetry. It is sharp, laser-focused, and depending on the subject matter, it’s uncomfortable. While much of it is Christian in nature, there are also hundreds of poems which deal with government corruption, biased mainstream media, discriminatory social networks, compromised Christianity and more. So before you decide that poetry is just not your thing, please check us out at the URL below. Who knows. You just might discover that you like poetry after all! Oh, and BTW, it’s free to share!
Okay, let’s all play at government,
It is really going to be lots of fun,
Make a bill, hold our committees,
They will think we get things done.
Yet if we look much more closely,
The situation is not what it seems,
Yes, those pols look rather busy,
Certain bills are reams and reams.
But … because of partisan politics,
Making bills can be quite a chore,
So while they appear hard at work,
Many will end up dead on the floor.
All that wasted time, energy, money,
But, alas, nothing really came of it,
Thus if they cannot get things done,
Maybe they should pack up and quit.
Then there are special committees,
They try to bring people to account,
But after exchanging so many words,
Quite often to nothing it will amount.
Yes, after putting on a political show,
The questioned just walks away free,
So why even bother to make a case,
The circus are you beginning to see?
Performers are found in both rings,
He is just a shrewd career politician,
While you think he gets the job done,
He is in fact just one crafty magician.

“. . . let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil . . . Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:26b-27, 31-32, KJV
“If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin . . . But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.” John 15:22, 25, KJV

“But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7, KJV
“Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.” 1 Timothy 5:22, KJV
“If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.” 2 John 1:10-11, KJV
Oh there is just so much frustration,
When a gecko catches my kitty’s eye,
She wants to grab that lizard badly,
But it’s up on the ceiling so very high.
Thus desperate she comes to tell me,
Hoping that I am able to help her out,
But, you see, I like those little lizards,
So I refuse to participate in their rout.
Yet after her much insistent pleading,
I will go to check out what is going on,
While my kitty prances around my feet,
Not knowing that I am playing the con.
Of course there is no way I can tell her,
That for dinner gecko won’t be served,
Canned tuna and Iams need to suffice,
Until my dear kitty’s appetite is curved.
So as I gaze at the creature up yonder,
I talk and point to it with great concern,
To let kitty know I really do understand,
But to see lizzy suffer I just don’t yearn.
The distraction faction is working hard,
Boy, just watch them digging up the dirt,
Both parties so busy looking for rumors,
They want to make their opponents hurt.
It does not matter if what’s said isn’t true,
As long as people believe, well it is okay,
You gotta make them look the very worst,
So they will really flop come election day.
That’s my boy! Just go dig up some mud,
And throw it right in your opponent’s face,
Rip them apart and just make them bleed,
So they can’t possibly ever take first place.
There is just no time for trying to play nice,
You’ve worked so hard to make it this far,
So don’t be a wimp, take off those gloves,
Show that bozo that you are one true star.
Sometimes we become so very anxious,
And we worry about what may lie ahead,
That old Devil tries to fill us all with fear,
But we just need to trust the Lord instead.
Yet trusting doesn’t always come so easy,
Particularly when we begin to look around,
The world’s filled with all sorts of problems,
And for certain many dangers do abound.
So then exactly what is the right solution,
And how can we bring our hearts peace?
Is there an easy way to calm life’s storms,
So that the great waves of fear will cease?
Well, I am happy to say there’s an answer,
Which has been known for so many years,
It will remove the turmoil from your mind,
And most assuredly wipe away your tears.
Instead of looking around at the sad world,
You need to put your eyes just on the Lord,
Then though winds howl and waves crash,
On His ship He will keep you safely aboard.
While it will not always be smooth sailing,
Your holy Captain knows the safest way,
He’ll guide you through the rough waters,
And you will arrive at a much brighter day.
