FATHER

by Bill Kochman

01-05-2017

They insist we should call God,
By an Old Testament Hebrew name,
But in all of the four Gospels,
Jesus never quite did the same.

Thus, when He taught us to pray,
In the well-known Lord’s Prayer,
We see the words “Our Father”,
Is what is really written there.

When Jesus prayed in the Garden,
Right before the Jews Him abused,
He did not use some Hebrew word,
“Father” is exactly what He used.

Over and over again we can see it,
“My Father”, “Your Father”, right?
But as for a certain Hebrew name,
It’s just simply nowhere in sight.

So Jesus was our primary example,
And we should do exactly as He did,
I won’t get hung up on the Hebrew,
Or debate it like some little kid.

The other New Testament writers,
Followed this same line of thought,
There’s no sign of a Hebrew name,
They used “God” and “Father” a lot.

These are merely a few examples,
I could give you so many more,
But my point is already clear,
Throw your legalism out the door.

FAME GAME

by Bill Kochman

04-17-2014

In our fallen world, everywhere it’s the same,
People so obsessed, with trying to make a name.
But how some go about it, is really a shame,
Power sex and money, are tools in their game.
Climbing over others, to grasp elusive fame,
No one is concerned, no one takes the blame.

In a crazy struggle, striving for their goal,
Caring for their body, but denying their soul.
But alas such madness, will surely take a toll,
Some die in the process, and end up in a hole.
Forget their foolish game, let go of the pole,
Better turn to Jesus, let Him make you whole.

FALSE PROPHETS

by Bill Kochman

05-20-2018

“Jesus is coming back very soon!”
So we have heard for many years,
False prophets fill our nation,
They just love tickling our ears.

Now when something comes to pass,
Among us a true Prophet has been,
But as for all of those others,
They commit such a terrible sin.

While they claim to know something,
They really know nothing at all,
Such wise words were well written,
By that grand, old Apostle Paul.

So don’t seek to be many masters,
To do so you are a fool at best,
When your words fall to the ground,
We’ll know you didn’t pass the test.

God’s Word tells us to avoid you,
Because He did not send you along,
While you claim to be His prophet,
You’re really singing your own song.

By your fruits we shall know you,
Jesus himself set down this rule,
It is time to hang up your cloak,
And stop being the Devil’s tool.

Paul wrote let God alone be true,
But let every man be just a liar,
Please stop your false prophecies,
Or you may well end up in the fire.

FALSE ASSUMPTION

by Bill Kochman

11-29-2016

Looking back o’er the years,
When you fussed and fumed,
God has surely abandoned me,
How you so wrongly assumed.

Though you did not see Him,
And feared the rising tide,
He has always been with you,
And constantly by your side.

It is you who stepped away,
In His shadow failed to abide,
And simply ignored His voice,
Even though He often tried.

FALLEN

by Bill Kochman

07-02-2015

Our land grows dark, there is no doubt,
Lacking repentance, her light goes out.
Right is wrong, and wrong is now right,
Yielding to sin has brought this plight.

The fear of the Lord in many has cooled,
Satan’s lies have this nation so fooled.
Our forefathers came to serve the Lord,
But now so many have abandoned His Word.

God is patient, but He is likewise just,
Turn back to Him, or be ground to dust.
God is not willing that any should fall,
He gives us a choice, now it’s our call.

FAITHFUL STEWARD

by Bill Kochman

12-08-2016

Are you a faithful steward of God’s Word,
Have you made certain people have heard,
About God’s wonderful and amazing love,
And the Salvation sent down from above?

Are you faithful with all of your tasks,
Do you do everything that the Lord asks,
Without hesitation, the best you’re able,
Do you truly place your all on the table?

If you do, the Lord will say “Well done”,
He’ll embrace you warmly as a beloved son,
Plus there’s a Garment and your Crown too,
To enjoy forever when this life is through.

FAITH, TRUST & PATIENCE

by Bill Kochman

01-08-2017

Why do so many all rush about?
Because they haven’t any trust,
But to even be able to do that,
Deep faith in God is a must.

We can’t slow down, be patient,
Without confidence in the Lord,
It is knowing He is in control,
Taking our time we can afford.

But if we grow too impatient,
And rely on our own strength,
We’ll fall down on our faces,
And make a big mess at length.

FAITH FOR TODAY

by Bill Kochman

12-09-2016

I don’t have faith for tomorrow,
Much less for the coming week,
I just have faith for right now,
In this very moment that I speak.

Jesus said don’t fret the morrow,
Because there’s enough evil today,
So if you don’t want grey hairs,
Just listen to what He has to say.

Simply trust God in the present,
And don’t worry about what may be,
Your life will have more peace,
And you will live more joyfully.

FAITH FIGHT — a poem and song by Bill Kochman

#Poetry #Poem

FAITH FIGHT

by Bill Kochman

10-04-2018

We all have our moments when we doubt,
We question what our life is all about.
Even as Christians we at times despair,
Our prayer unanswered, is God up there?

As we grow older, our beliefs may wane,
Has our faith just been all in vain?
Not a miracle seen, no signs anywhere,
The world in a mess, doesn’t God care?

It can be so hard to trust in God above,
And keep on believing in His great love.
In our weakness we want proof He’s real,
But for His reasons, God remains still.

The Prophets gave signs, Apostles too,
And that is how folks of old all knew.
But today God works in a different way,
Demanding we have faith, day by day.

Trusting in His Word, we must believe,
Only this way, Salvation we’ll receive.
So even though at times it may be hard,
Keep on fighting till that final yard.

Resist your doubts, keep pressing in,
And by God’s Grace you will surely win.

FAIRY TALES

by Bill Kochman

05-11-2014

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall,
Cinderella went to the ball.
One Jack was nimble, one fell down,
Wicked witch melted into the ground.

Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger,
Snow White with dwarves did linger.
As for Beauty, she loved the Beast,
Munchkins feared, Witch of the East.

Rip Van Winkle, long time did sleep,
Rapunzel’s hair, she did not keep.
But all these tales are so absurd,
Should we not teach kids the Word?

FAILURE

by Bill Kochman

02-21-2018

They did not see it coming,
They said there were no signs,
They agreed the kid was okay,
Must have been wearing blinds.

How could this possibly happen,
Seventeen more just mowed down,
That kid walked in unimpeded,
And fired round after round.

The system is obviously broken,
It has failed again and again,
When will these killings stop,
Please tell me when oh when?

FACEBOOK TACTICS

by Bill Kochman

12-27-2016

They say “Type ‘Amen!’ if you …”,
But that’s not how the Gospel I preach,
You don’t need to resort to gimmicks,
If the lost you are trying to reach.

Just be faithful to share God’s Word,
Folks may comment or your post like,
But please don’t rely on trickery,
So your page will experience a spike.

It is indeed really quite inspiring,
To receive some feedback now and then,
But if you’re leaning on such tactics,
You need to rethink your strategy again.

FACEBOOK RELIGION

by Bill Kochman

12-19-2016

Don’t you just love Facebook religion?
It’s our new faith some Christians say,
You can get piles of money & blessings,
Just keep typing “Amen!” the whole day.

If you want an extra special blessing,
Just pass all those chain letters along,
I mean, oh gosh, come on now, friends,
Those misguided folks cannot be wrong!

Sorry, but no thanks, you silly people,
But that’s not how the Gospel we share,
That religion you preach is deception,
From the Prince of the Power of the air.

FACEBOOK RANT

by Bill Kochman

03-21-2019

I’m tired of the political crap,
Facebook loves to throw my way,
I’m tired of sick sexual memes,
Which they claim are quite okay.

I’m tired of their discrimination,
They squash things I want to say,
I’m tired of all their pressure,
To be seen they say I have to pay.

I’m tired of all the work I do,
It rarely sees the light of day
I’m tired of all their algorithms,
No wonder many don’t want to stay.

I’m tired of their constant lies,
Their sense of fairness is absurd,
I’m tired of their liberal views,
They stink even worse than a turd.

I’m tired of just being so tired,
Facebook used to be a lot more fun,
I’m tired of few likes & comments,
One day I’ll probably just run.

FACEBOOK NONSENSE

by Bill Kochman

12-19-2016

I visited my friend’s timeline,
There was an interesting post,
It said that if I typed “Amen!”,
God would love me the very most.

I went to yet another timeline,
Where again I was basically told,
That if I just shared that image,
It proves I am a Christian bold.

Why oh why, dear foolish people,
Do you treat our faith this way?
That is not how God even operates,
That behavior is shameful, I say.

I went to my Facebook page,
Wanted to see what was new,
A message was in my in-box,
A blessing waits for you!

Just touch this cute photo,
Then send it to 10 friends,
If you do it very quickly,
It’s a gift that never ends.

Oh such foolish Facebookers,
How can you all be so naive,
There are trolls and hackers,
Out there waiting to deceive.

EXIT WITHOUT PEACE

by Bill Kochman

01-07-2017

It’s your right to kill yourself,
If that’s what you want to do,
But before you take another puff,
You need to think this thing thru.

Years ago I once had a cousin,
And “once” is the key word to see,
He smoked and smoked for decades,
Until one day he just ceased to be.

But, you see, it was not so easy,
He did not peacefully go one day.
That man died suffering in agony,
As lung cancer ate his lungs away.

EXAMINE YOURSELF

by Bill Kochman

01-08-2017

It seems that in our modern day,
People have really put up a guard,
So trying to give them the truth,
Can oft times be extremely hard.

But there’s also one big problem,
Which we cannot lay at their feet,
It’s when we act so hypocritically,
And God’s standard we fail to meet.

It’s unfair to blame nonbelievers,
When our own faith we do not live,
We need to stop pointing fingers,
And ourselves one good look give.

EXAMINE THOSE SEEDS

by Bill Kochman

01-11-2017

Now it is very common knowledge,
What we plant is what will grow,
But stated in a more Biblical way,
We will reap exactly what we sow.

So if we sow love and friendship.
Hopefully we will reap the same,
But if we sow hatred and violence,
Well, then we will take the blame.

Thus I advise you to be careful,
Examine the seeds that you plant,
For someday it will all come back,
As someone’s love or terrible rant.

EVIL WISDOM

by Bill Kochman

12-12-2016

Not all knowledge is good,
Let’s make this point clear,
Something isn’t always true,
When it passes by your ear.

Great deception now abounds,
Some things meant to deceive,
Truth perverted and distorted,
As all their lies they weave.

Many are their speculations,
Strange theories they tell,
This wisdom is not of God,
It was given birth in Hell.
