UTOPIAN DREAM MACHINE — a dream, poem and super graphic by Bill Kochman
“They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.”
Jonah 2:8, KJV
This is a “super graphic”. Please click the image in order to see it full size.
Dear Friends,
The strange poem you are about to read is based on a real dream which I had in September of 2014.
I had already gone to bed, and hoped that I would sleep for the night. However, a short while later, I woke up with some vivid thoughts and images still in my mind, from a dream I had just had.
I normally do not remember my dreams. However, the fact that I remembered portions of this one, suggested to me that it might have some importance. So, I immediately got out of bed, sat in my computer chair, and began to write the following poem, in which I describe what I remember from the short dream.
After completing the poem, I felt that to do the subject justice, rather than make my customary 500 x 400 pixel graphic, I should design one of my 1280 x 960 pixel “super graphics” instead.
To be honest, I am really not certain what this dream means, if anything. I will tell you what I think, and then you can leave your own comments as well.
While the dream may simply be symbolic of television networks which psychologically manipulate people day after day, and year after year, telling them how to view the world, who to vote for, what to eat, what to wear, where to shop, how to view other leaders and nations, etc., perhaps there is more to it than that.
I was reminded of a number of things as I pondered the dream, and constructed this poem.
I have mentioned before a very interesting movie that I saw a number of years ago called “Surrogates”. I won’t spoil the plot for you in case you haven’t seen it yet, but the film is based on the premise of what our world will be like in the future, based on the current trends in computer technology.
Considering such things as the iPhone, iPad, virtual reality, cloud computing, Google Glass, and similar things, I can’t help but wonder if this dream isn’t meant to serve as a warning of things to come. What if what I saw in the dream is a precursor to the scenario that is suggested in the “Surrogates” movie? A very unsettling thought indeed!
Please let me know what you think of the poem and graphic. I put hours of work into this project.
“As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep . . . Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” John 10:15, 17-18, KJV
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13, KJV
“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” 1 John 3:16, KJV
“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:10, KJV
“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8, KJV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17, KJV

While the Authorized King James Version of the Holy Bible uses the phrase “Holy Ghost” many dozens of times in the New Testament, it should be noted that the phrase “Holy Spirit” is also used seven times; three times in the Old Testament, and four times in the New Testament. In fact, Jesus Himself used “Holy Spirit” in the Gospel of Luke. Yet at the same time, He also used “Holy Ghost” multiple times, such as in John 20:22 shown below. The truth of the matter us that BOTH phrases are derived from the very same Koine Greek words “hagios pneuma”. So in essence, they are interchangeable and synonymous terms. Both are proper.
“Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.” Psalm 51:11, KJV
“But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, [and] he fought against them. Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, [and] his people, [saying], Where [is] he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where [is] he that put his holy Spirit within him?” Isaiah 63:10-11, KJV
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Luke 11:13, KJV
“In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14, KJV
“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30, KJV
“For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8, KJV
“And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:” John 20:22, KJV
