PORK BARREL POLITICS

by Bill Kochman

In this modern world of politics,
The truth doesn’t reign supreme,
Words are said, bills are passed,
Are they always what they seem?

Some bills can be so very long,
They are really quite the ream,
Just trying to read it all in time,
It is quite frankly just a dream.

Hidden in the multitude of words,
Politicians oft plot and scheme,
Trying to promote their agenda,
They’ll really go to the extreme.

So be careful and ditch the pork,
Get that bill down to the cream,
For if you don’t, you will regret it,
When your constituents scream.
