SALVATION PRAYERS

Some say a salvation prayer has no true value,
Well forgive me but I’m compelled to tell you.
John 1:12 tells us that as many as receive,
John 3:16 says whosoever will just believe.
Rom. 10:9-10 says verbal confession is a start,
Galatians 3:17 says Jesus dwells in our heart.
Mat. 21:22, receive by faith whatever we pray,
That is what even Jesus certainly had to say.
If we express our faith through such a prayer,
I honestly don’t see what is so wrong there.
Now if water baptism could serve as a sign,
Explain why a salvation prayer you so malign.
Both are personal acts we each choose to do,
It demonstrates we all believe in Jesus too.
Yes, after we’re saved our works should follow,
As James wrote, faith without works is hollow.
Yet they say a salvation prayer is to no avail,
And tho we say one we’re still bound for hell.
Salvation is a matter of our personal belief,
So just let go now of legalism, oh good grief!
Stop complicating what God has made very plain,
Saved by grace through faith, works are in vain.
Only God saves us, and He alone us can keep,
To keep yourself saved is a mountain too steep.
