SOMETHING BUT NOTHING

Shrewd politicians have a special knack,
For saying something but nothing at all,
Yeah, they will simply ramble on and on,
But it’s as if they have run into some wall.

You will listen very closely to their speech,
Trying your very best to figure them out,
But quite frankly when they have finished,
You are still wondering what it was about.

It certainly seemed great for a sound bite,
As they rattled off their various thoughts,
Yet despite all of their interesting talking,
Your confused brain is still tied up in knots.

But then as you decide to take more time,
To more clearly decipher what they said,
You suddenly arrive at the firm realization,
They were really messing with your head.

No, they did not actually give information,
Or tell you the positions where they stood,
They just so slyly kept stringing you along,
So you still question what’s under the hood.
