SORE THUMB

by Bill Kochman

Some people say I’m just plain crazy,
Because I don’t run in their rat race,
But alas if I may be terribly honest,
It just made me feel so out of place.

I tried for so long to be like them,
I walked and I talked just the same,
But God said He made me differently,
That I am not a part of their game.

At last my blind eyes were opened,
I just stuck out like a sore thumb,
So farewell to the ways of the world,
I’d rather be free and poor as a bum.
