WITTY BUT WHAT A PITY
by Bill Kochman
03-29-2019
He thought that he was so witty,
He did not believe in the Lord,
So whenever there was a debate,
He’d always have the last word.
He was quite eloquent in speech,
Leaving folks in an utter daze,
But his wife was a firm Believer,
Who prayed for that man for days.
Alas that fool remained hardened,
Leading astray not merely a few,
Local Christians were befuddled,
They didn’t know just what to do.
One day that man suddenly died,
It surprised so many all around,
The big question on their minds,
Was if he was now Heaven bound.
Well tho he didn’t understand it,
He stood before the mighty Throne,
Not a single word left his lips,
His body trembled in every bone.
Judgment was passed in a moment,
His own words told his sad tale,
That soul didn’t belong in Heaven
His arguments were to no avail.
Shocked beyond belief he shouted,
But it was all just a silly game,
God then looked at him and said,
You never accepted my Son’s name.
And not only did you reject Him,
You caused others His name to deny,
So stop with your witty excuses,
You already know the reason why.
