CUSTOMER FOR LIFE

I went to visit my local doctor,
Because I was feeling kind of ill,
He said "Now don’t worry friend,
Because I have got just the pill."
Then peering into his computer,
He studied my lab work chart,
"You should take this tablet also,
It will clean up your fatty heart."
He then listened to my chest,
And he noticed something off,
"You should take this pill daily,
It’s sure to alleviate your cough."
Gazing again at that screen,
I could see his consternation,
"Friend, this isn’t looking good,
So also take this medication."
Turning again to my numbers,
He said "I don’t like your LDL,
We really ought to play it safe,
You should take a statin as well."
But that doctor was not done,
"Oh, your A1C is looking high,
Perhaps now is a good time,
To give daily insulin pills a try."
By now I was quite suspicious,
Something just was not right.
Why so many medications?
It was just one sleepless night.
And so before he spoke again,
I rushed towards the clinic door.
But I had not yet paid the bill,
Thus I was pinned to the floor.
The doc then gave me a shot,
He yelled I was out of control,
Suddenly I got so very sleepy,
And woke up in this hellhole.
I am in a white straight jacket,
My hands strapped to the bed,
My brain seems so really fried,
What’s attached to my head?
Then that vile doctor arrived,
"You refused to play our game,
So now you’re mine here on out,
I’ll make money just the same."
So think about modern doctors,
Do they want to make us whole?
Is making us a customer for life,
Really their only one true goal?
