How I loved to hear you scream,
When I stayed up half the night,
Back then the data took forever,
Oh just one slow byte after byte.

But man we were just very cool,
Yeah it was quite a different age,
We hung around our computers,
When BBSing was still the rage.

That screeching sound, oh boy!
It so filled us with anticipation,
As we connected to each other,
To have our online conversation.

Sure it was all just by forum text,
Nothing super fancy like today,
While others engaged in a game,
Wow there were so many to play!

Remember blocky ANSI graphics?
It took skill to make that art great,
Some guys were the absolute pros,
While others remained second rate.

Some claim we were a community,
Techno nerds, odd geeks and such,
We were simply outside of the norm,
No one ever bothered us very much.

Just happy in that electronic world,
Our modem was so like having gold,
Some worry that this hobby is dying,
Will you also leave it out in the cold?
