Continuing our discussion from part one, while it may appear to some of my readers that we have deviated somewhat from our primary discussion regarding import tariffs, the truth is that we really haven't. That is because all of this is interrelated, as I will now explain to you. As I mentioned earlier, contrary to what some people seem to think, these tariffs which are currently in place are NOT being paid by foreign governments. Furthermore, as I also already told you, these tariffs are actually being paid by the USA-based companies which import those foreign-made products.
Now, certain reports make the claim that most of the added costs which result from the increased tariffs are supposedly being absorbed by the import companies themselves. I really have to wonder how much we should believe this. Why do I say this? Because of inherent greed and the need to satisfy the profit margin. While the import companies may absorb -- and thus not pass along -- some of the added costs which result from the tariffs, my online research reveals that a rather significant portion of those higher costs is in fact passed along to American businesses.
Then what happens? Well, as we've already clearly seen, many American companies are only concerned with their false god -- that is to say, the profit margin -- and keeping that greedy beast happy, healthy and well-fed. For those of you who don't get it, please note that I am really referring to a company's investors. After all, if the CEO or other key players are not doing a satisfactory job in their eyes, they will give them the boot. So it is either be a sharp financial shark, or out you go, buddy!
So to keep the beast well-fed and nourished, what will they do? I already told you earlier. Rather than absorb the higher costs themselves, ultimately, they will simply pass them down to American consumers in the form of higher prices. In short, my friends, we the consumers are the ones who have borne the majority of the financial burden which has resulted from the higher import tariffs which have been imposed by Trump and his administration. Indirectly, I think that it is fair to say that, collectively speaking, we consumers are the ones who have really paid these added import tariffs, and NOT any foreign governments, despite what President Trump has tried to insist.
I have seen a few online folks claim that Trump just doesn't know what he's talking about. Personally, I have a hard time buying that line. Why so? Because President Donald Trump has been involved in the business world for many decades. He is not a novice. He is fully aware of how it operates. He knows all of the ins and outs, all of the pitfalls, and all of the angles. As such, I am convinced that he surely understands and knows that indirectly, the tariff money is coming right out of the pockets of everyday Americans. What do YOU think?
But the thing that irks me the most about it is the way the Trump administration has played the American patriotism card in all of this. It is patriotic to build things in America. It is patriotic to buy things "Made in America." Now that we are at the beginning of the Christmas shopping season, you can just bet that the government and the Big Business world are going to be pushing that line even harder. After all, as I said, they have got to feed that very hungry profit margin beast.
Wow! Now isn't this rather interesting! You will never guess what just happened. While I was working on this article, I stopped for a moment to check my Mail app for new email. Lo and behold, I discovered a new News Alert email arriving from The Washington Times. You will never guess what the title of the message is. Get a load of this, my friends. This is dated November 28, 2025:

NEWS ALERT
Patriotic vibes and tariff fears fuel uptick in 'Made in USA' shopping this holiday season
Shoppers are more likely to buy American-made products than last season, a top U.S. manufacturing group says, pointing to President Trump's tariffs and patriotic fervor as the main drivers.
----- End Quote -----
Now is that just a coincidence or what? Here I was writing about patriotic fervor, and The Washington Time confirmed it to the letter! Very interesting indeed! So you see, my friends, it has already started. They want all of you good little Americans to buy US products. It doesn't matter that they may cost MORE than the imported products. That is not important. You need to purchase them anyway, as a sign of your patriotism. Do you see how that works? This is a good example of psychological manipulation, and it starts right at the top with President Trump, Mr. American Businessman himself. Excuse my sarcasm.
But here is the problem with purchasing American-made stuff. As many of my readers will already know, a lot of American workers refuse to work for the same low wages as foreigners. They are bona fide American citizens, born and raised in the USA, and by golly, they want -- demand? -- to be paid a real American living wage, and not just peanuts like the foreign workers. And by the way, for those of you who didn't already know it, and as I have mentioned before, aside from creating an instant Democratic voting block, another huge reason for the humongous influx of illegal immigrants, is that they are an instant pool of CHEAP LABOR.
My dear friends, think about that for a moment. If President Trump makes it difficult for US companies to import their foreign-made products -- which cuts deeply into their profit margin -- consider the other option they have and which they have apparently already used. If they can no longer rely on cheap foreign labor due to the tariffs, then simply import those same cheap laborers into the United States itself and keep paying them low wages! Wow! What a con job! Do you see it?
I speak about this very thing in my four-part series called "What About the Poor?". It is a matter of record -- I have seen the very same thing occur here where I live -- that a lot of companies and businesses will hire illegal immigrants BEFORE they will hire bona fide American citizens. But there is a catch. In many cases, they only hire them PART-TIME. Unless the situation has changed since I was a part of the workforce many years ago, one advantage of hiring part-time workers is that a business is NOT required to provide them with any health and dental benefits.
Of course, the advantage to a business engaging in this type of dishonest practice, is that it also saves a lot of money. Along the same lines, because those illegal immigrants are only hired as part-time workers, that also means that they will never receive any overtime pay. So again, the business ends up saving a lot of money. So even though the companies know that it is wrong and dangerous to hire illegals, some of them are still willing to take the risk, simply because doing so saves them a lot of money. Yay, Big Business! Not!
As I said a moment ago, in contrast to that cheap labor pool, American-born citizens will usually NOT sell themselves that cheaply. They want full-time jobs. They want a real living wage. They want both health and dental benefits. They want an annual paid vacation. All of such demands come at a price for a business owner. It means that in order to absorb the cost of paying an American-born worker, he has to raise the price of the products that he sells. He is not going to allow his company to go into the red by hiring demanding American-born workers.
And there is the rub, my friends. In the end, American-made products will always cost more due to those reasons. That is why hiring illegal immigrants is such a popular practice with some American companies. That is the dilemma: cheap foreign labor for cheaper priced products, or American made products sold at a high price. To reiterate my earlier point, the god of the business world -- the profit margin -- will always be at the front of the line before any other ethical and moral considerations. That is just a fact of life, sad to say.
My sense, if I understand this properly, is that through his current tariffs game and strategy, President Trump is trying to change the rules of the game. It is like a war that is being waged on a chessboard. On one side of the board are the cheap imported products. On the other side are the expensive homegrown American-made products. Through his tariffs, Trump is trying to flip the board, so that the homegrown products are cheaper than the foreign-made products. Will he succeed? Honestly speaking, I have my doubts, and I will tell you why I feel this way.
Not too long ago, I recall President Trump remarking that we would have to go through a rough period -- or an adjustment period -- before we would begin to experience the benefits of the higher tariffs his administration has imposed. I do not know if he ever fully explained what he meant by his comment, but I will tell you how I personally understand what he said. You may or may not agree with me. I will leave it up to you to decide.
If President Trump continues to push through his tariffs war, then eventually, something is going to have to break. Someone is going to have to yield to the economic pressure. In other words, either the foreign companies which export products to America will have to bow before Trump and be forced to lower the costs of their products, and/or lower the tariffs on the American products they import, or else US companies will be forced to purchase their products from American manufacturers, which will surely jack up consumer prices, which will hit us at the cash register.
So, while I could be wrong about this, my sense is that when President Trump spoke about a rough period or an adjustment period, I am wondering if he actually meant that we Americans would simply have to get used to paying even higher prices for everything. Being the businessman that he is, he knows exactly how we Americans react to things that we do not like, but which are beyond our control.
And exactly how is that? In the beginning, we will naturally grumble and complain a lot, as many people are already doing even now. However, we eventually throw up our hands in defeat and grudgingly accept whatever the new situation is. We may even eventually agree that, yes, it is indeed our patriotic duty to buy only American-made products, even if they do cost us an arm and a leg. And so we thus proclaim "All hail to Big Business! All hail to the profit margin! We gladly feed thee oh mighty beast!" Once we reach that point of acceptance, the adjustment period will finally be over. By the way, if you want to be an extra in the movie, please let me know. Sarcasm intended.
So, my friends, with my limited knowledge, that is how I now understand and view this whole tariffs war issue. Again, I am no expert in these matters, and I candidly admit that I could be wrong regarding some of it. I suppose time will tell. You be the judge.
