Ask God For Wisdom And Spiritual Discernment, Don't Become Unwitting Tools Of Politicians And Rumormongers, Internet Is A Global Witnessing Tool, Wasted Online Witnessing Space, Questionable Conspiracy Theories Unfounded Rumors Misguided YouTube Videos, All For God's Glory, Spiritual Lights In The World, Every Idle Word, Don't Engage In Worldliness Or Dirty Secular Politics, Spiritual Adultery: God's Friend Or Friend Of The World, Satan Is The False God Of This World, A Higher Calling And Citizenship In God's Kingdom, Reading Resources
Taking into consideration the obviously heightened level of verbal missiles which both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney -- and their faithful armies of proxies -- have been viciously hurdling at each other, let me emphasize again that we must ask the Lord to give us His Wisdom and Spiritual Discernment by way of His Spirit, so that we do not become deceived by either of these two fast-talking, secular politicians, or by their supporters who may resort to unscrupulous tactics in order to promote their particular candidate. As the Apostle James writes:
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
James 1:5, KJV
Just as I have often counseled my readers to always verify their beliefs with the Scriptures, in similar fashion, we must all be very careful that we do not allow ourselves to become the unwitting tools of politicians and their proxies, by foolishly helping to spread unfounded rumors all across the Internet. Sadly, and to my dismay, I have seen so many Christians -- and this includes some of my Facebook friends -- who do this very thing.
As I explain in the article called "The Internet: Our Final Frontier, Your Last Chance?", with the advent of the global Internet, user-based websites and social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, YouTube, etc., we have such an opportunity to spread the Christian Gospel into so many countries and regions of the world where we may never be able to visit in the flesh. In fact, some of these places are so dangerous to our Christian faith, that we couldn't go there in person even if we wanted to.
Yet, despite this great online witnessing opportunity that we have, I am disappointed to find so many of my Christian friends' websites and Facebook pages filled up, not with the life-giving, truth-bearing Word of God, but rather with so much secular junk, or with questionable conspiracy theories, unfounded rumors, misguided YouTube videos, and other types of nonsense. While my friends are obviously at liberty to design their own websites and Facebook pages as they desire, personally, I feel that it is a waste of space, and a waste of their talent as well. As the Apostle Paul writes:
"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."
1 Corinthians 10:31, KJV
I honestly don't wish to offend any of my online friends, but I fail to see how filling up your web pages with all of these other questionable things is really bringing glory to God. If Jesus were to unexpectedly return tomorrow, is it possible that you would be ashamed of what He might find on your page or website? Would He find you shining your spiritual light brightly for Him, or would He find information which in no way leads people to Salvation and Scriptural Truth? Please consider the following verses:
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16, KJV
"That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;"
Philippians 2:15, KJV
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Philippians 4:8, KJV
Please understand that I share these things with my online friends out of Christian love. Tough love can mean speaking the truth, even when that truth may be offensive to some. He that hath an ear, let him hear. Consider this verse:
"Open rebuke is better than secret love."
Proverbs 27:5, KJV
My personal advice to all of my friends is this: Unless you can personally verify these political rumors and conspiracy theories beyond any shadow of doubt, it is best to just keep them to yourself. Don't allow yourself to become a conduit for someone else's foolishness, and most certainly, do not broadcast them on your personal website or on your Facebook page. I advise you to recall what Jesus taught us in the Gospel of Matthew:
"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment."
Matthew 12:36, KJV
In fact, as many of my readers and online friends will know, for many years now I have firmly believed and taught that as Bible-believing Christians, we should not even engage in the dirty politics of the world. As the following verses clearly reveal, we are to be a called out people who are supposed to remain separated from the evil ways of the world as much as possible. To be engaged in the affairs of this life -- and particularly in the dirty political affairs of this world -- is to commit spiritual adultery in God's sight. By becoming friends of the world, we in fact make ourselves the enemies of God, as we see here:
"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."
John 15:19, KJV
"I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil."
John 17:14-15, KJV
"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,"
2 Corinthians 6:17, KJV
"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;"
Ephesians 2:19, KJV
"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."
James 4:4, KJV
"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."
1 John 2:15-16, KJV
"No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."
2 Timothy 2:4, KJV
"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city."
Hebrews 11:13-16, KJV
"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."
Colossians 3:1-2, KJV
So as you can see, we have a calling which is much higher than engaging in the political affairs of this world which are ruled by and controlled by the false god of this world; that is, Satan himself. Consider these verses:
"Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:"
Ephesians 2:2, KJV
"In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."
2 Corinthians 4:4, KJV
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Ephesians 6:12, KJV
In contrast, as the previous verses clearly reveal, our King, our Kingdom, our Capital City, and our Citizenship is simply not of this world, and never has been. We are really strangers and pilgrims who are abiding our time in a strange land, until the day in which our Great Shepherd calls us all Home to His Celestial Kingdom. That being the case, why do so many of you waste your time on things which don't really make any eternal difference? Is it not much wiser to build your life, and dedicate your work to the one true Foundation which will last forever, that is, Jesus Christ? Forget about the temporal, corrupt, dirty politics of this current world. Let the children of the world do whatever they will do; it is of no concern to us.
Do you really believe this in your heart? Do you truly have a Heavenly Vision? Or do you try to have one foot in the world, while the other is in God's Kingdom? Are you trying to be a dual citizen in contradiction to God's Word which warns us to not be friends with the world?
