In their deceptive endeavors to justify the serious changes they have made to Romans 1:26-27, the publishers of the QJB resort to the very same tricks and methods that they used to twist the meaning of the previous verses that we examined. Let us not forget that in their darkened minds, they have in fact convinced themselves that they've done such a wonderful job with reinterpreting these various verses, that they have made "homophobic interpretations impossible". Because they are of this persuasion, it should not surprise us that they would rely upon these same tactics in their treatment of Romans 1:26-27.

For example, in an attempt to add a degree of validity to their misguided interpretation, and apparently in an effort to impress us with their scholarly ability, they once again resort to using the ambiguous phrase "most scholars", just as they did with their interpretation of Genesis 19:5. In other words, they basically appear to be saying "See; we are not alone in our views. Everyone understands the verses just like we do." What is not said, but what is slyly implied, is that if anyone does not agree with them, then not only must they not be very educated, but they are in the minority as well. Thus the publishers of the blasphemous abomination known as the Queen James Bible write the following on their web page:

"Most scholars (us included), agree that the sin in Romans 1 isn't being gay or lesbian or having gay sex. The sin was worshiping pagan idols instead of God, as it was in Leviticus, as it is everywhere in the Bible."

This is the same old tactic of relying upon peer pressure in order to impose a certain point of view upon someone. If one does not agree with the promoters of some particular point of view, then they intentionally endeavor to make that individual feel silly and embarrassed. Tragically, some teachers will do this with their students. More specifically, I have heard of some incidents where science teachers who embrace the foolish theory of evolution will use these tactics against Christian students who trust in God's Word instead.

Strangely enough, just as they made no attempt whatsoever to identify these other individuals when they used the phrase "most Bible scholars" in their treatment of Genesis 19:5, we are given the same silent treatment with Romans 1:26-27. We have no idea who these "most scholars" are in the previous quote, and they do not seem very willing to tell us either. The only thing they are prepared to do, is to inform us that they apparently count themselves amongst this ambiguous group of learned individuals. Thus they write "(us included)".

On a related note, what I find equally disturbing is the fact that the mysterious publishers of the Queen James Bible offer us absolutely no personal information regarding themselves on their website. I mean, zilch, zero, nada. There is no company name. There are no individuals listed. There is no physical location listed such as city and state, or at least a postal box. There is no email address, telephone number, cell phone number or fax number. There are no images of the publishers or of their publishing house. There is a contact form, but it too reveals absolutely nothing about the individuals who are behind the promotion of the blasphemous abomination known as the Queen James Bible.

Hoping that perhaps I could gain a little more information, I went ahead and clicked on the "buy now" link just to see what it would lead to. Lo and behold, it took me to Amazon. One would think that being as they are a professional online store, Amazon would be able to provide us with some actual details regarding the publishers of this blasphemous tome. As I said, one would think. In actuality, I learned absolutely nothing. The information on the publishers' Amazon page is just as ambiguous. Following is the primary information that you will find there:

I don't know about you, but for me personally, even without considering the outrageous way in which they have perverted and corrupted God's Holy Word, this entire QJB promotion raises a lot of red flags. If these people are so proud and confident of their translation work; and if their goals and motivations are as pure as they claim; why is it that they are intentionally lurking in the shadows? What do they have to hide? Even if a person is gay or lesbian, would they be so foolish as to invest $34.95 in a new designer Bible that simply has eight questionable changes in the text from the well-respected King James Version of the Bible, particularly when they don't even know who is behind this new Bible?

Returning to our discussion of Romans 1:26-27, as I stated earlier, these unidentified publishers have resorted to the very same tactics in their endeavors to justify the changes they have made to these verses. As we have already seen, in an effort to build confidence in their translation, they try to convince us that "most scholars" agree with their opinion of these verses; even though we have absolutely no idea who these other scholars are. As you can easily determine from the previous quote, their second tactic is to again endeavor to link these verses to ancient pagan idolatry.

As you will recall from part two, with the two verses that we examined in the Book of Leviticus, the publishers sought to twist their meaning by associating them with male prostitutes who were dedicated to the worship of the false deity Molech. This time, however, they endeavor to convince us that these similar sexual acts are specifically linked to Roman pagan idol worship, and that they have absolutely nothing to do with gay and lesbian relationships. In addition to the quote which I shared with you earlier which proves that this is their primary intention, on their website they also clearly state the following:

"We can't be exactly sure what Paul meant by the natural use of a woman, but we can be pretty sure he wasn't talking about lesbian sex."

In other words, when Paul writes "even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature", the QJB publishers are insisting that Paul does not mean that women left their natural use -- that is, engaging in natural sexual relations with men -- and engaged in sexual acts with other women instead; that is, lesbianism. What do you think? Who do you believe? Are you led by God's Spirit in your personal understanding of the Scriptures, or do you accept this tripe from the QJB publishers?

So, after explaining all of their whys and wherefores, these misguided people inform us that they have settled with the following translation of Romans 1:26-27. As you can see, just as they did with the previous verses that we examined, they have intentionally inserted words which are not found in the original Greek text, so that the verses now emphasize pagan idol worship, and not homosexuality, or forbidden gay and lesbian sexual relations:

"Their women did change their natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, left of the natural use of the woman, burned in ritual lust, one toward another; Men with men working that which is pagan and unseemly. For this cause God gave the idolators up unto vile affections, receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."
Romans 1:26-27, QJB


Whereas Paul writes "burned in their lust one toward another; men with men", the QJB publishers intentionally change it to "burned in ritual lust, one toward another; Men with men." The intent here is to purposely distance and divorce regular gay relationships -- as if there is anything "regular" about them -- from Roman pagan idolatry and temple prostitutes. In other words, as I have already explained, the goal of these misguided QJB publishers is to manipulate our thinking, and convince us that the real sin that Paul is exposing is pagan idol worship and the temple prostitution that accompanied it. They want to remove from our minds the belief that there is something wrong with gay and lesbian relationships, as they exist today.

They use this same tactic twice in these verses. Whereas Paul clearly writes "God gave them up unto vile affections", the QJB publishers change it to "God gave the idolators up unto vile affections." Once again they purposely insert the phrase "the idolators", even though it is nowhere to be found in the original Greek text, because they want us to think about the ancient idol worshippers, and not about modern homosexuals.

It is very clear -- and not ambiguous as the QJB publishers claim -- that in the original KJV text, when Paul says "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections", the word "them" is in fact referring to gays and lesbians. However, the QJB publishers don't want us to believe that; and this is why they have so heavily edited -- perverted and corrupted is more accurate -- these verses. Another way in which they are trying to manipulate our thinking is by intentionally moving that phrase from the beginning of verse twenty-six, to the second half of verse twenty-seven. It is very clever, very sneaky, and very subtle, because it changes how we understand the verses.

If you still don't quite understand what they are doing here, let me explain it to you more clearly. If we read the verses the way that Paul has originally written them, we understand that he is informing us that God has given up these sinful people to vile affections; and then Paul explains to us what these vile affections are: gay and lesbian sexual relations. You see, in the original text, we are Spirit-led in how we understand the verses, which is the way it is supposed to be. However, in the perverted way that the Queen James Bible says it, the publishers are forcing us to understand the verses in the manner in which they want us to understand them -- and it is particularly so because they insert the extra words -- and then they tell us that this is what Paul means by "them" -- which they have replaced with "the idolators" -- and "vile affections".

Do you understand now? In short, as a result of the inserted words and the changed order of the sentences, the publishers are forcefully telling us how to understand the two verses, and not allowing us to be led by God's Spirit in the least. Paul basically says "The vile affections are these", and then he tells us exactly what they are; but the QJB publishers do it in reverse and say "No; they really did this and this, and these are the vile affections that Paul is talking about." As I said, it is a very sneaky approach. As we saw earlier, the QJB publishers assert that by making these changes to the text of Romans 1:26-27, the verses have been "made very clear." I have to strongly disagree. This is an absolute lie, as well as a deception. The verses are very clear in their original form as Paul wrote them. As I said, "made very clear" really means "made to say what we want them to say."

What these foolish publishers are doing with Romans 1:26-27 is using the very same tactic that they used with the verses from the Book of Leviticus. They are trying to translate and interpret the verses as narrowly as possible, so that there is no room to consider that Paul may actually be condemning gay and lesbian relationships. Remember the warning that I shared with you several times already. What did these people say their ultimate goal is? Here it is again from point six in part one of this series:

"We edited those eight verses in a way that makes homophobic interpretations impossible."

----- End Quote -----

You see, in their spiritual blindness, just as they did with the verses from the Book of Leviticus, they are intentionally trying to turn these verses into an either/or situation. In other words, either Paul is condemning gay and lesbian sex, or else he is condemning pagan idolatry. The publishers have very obviously chosen the latter, and that is what they want us to believe as well. The tragedy is that in reality, Paul is actually condemning both. If we read the entire chapter, it becomes evident that Paul is likewise discussing all of the weird idols -- human, animal, half-human and half-beast -- that the Romans worshipped. Even I am not so foolish as to deny this.

However, insofar as the verses which we are discussing, it is evident that Paul is clearly emphasizing human sexual sins; and in particular, gay and lesbian relationships. In fact, as I mention in other related articles, personally, I very strongly suspect that when Paul writes "receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet", he is referring to the fact that these sinful people were plagued with all kinds of sexually transmitted diseases, as a result of their gay and lesbian activities. Furthermore, according to the actual Greek words which are used in that verse, Paul is rather bluntly saying that these people got exactly what they deserved due to their foolish, sinful behavior. As proof of this, consider that the phrase "was meet" is derived from the Greek word "dei", which implies something that is right and proper, or necessary.

Can the truth be any more plain than that? It is no different today with the vast majority of AIDS victims being gay men. As offensive as this fact may be to some people, and despite modern efforts to minimize or conceal it, as far as I know, this is still the awful truth. In other words, homosexual men still comprise the largest demographic group who continue to be infected with the AIDS virus. Despite everything that God has done to wake them up and shake them up -- including this serious affliction in the flesh which often leads to death -- these hard-hearted, deceived people just keeping on sinning. Furthermore, the greedy pharmaceutical industry is more than happy to provide these sick people with a plethora of drugs, so that they can continue to defy God's Holy Laws until they finally die due to complications which arise as a result of their affliction.

Moving on, the next set of verses which the Queen James Bible publishers target are 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. In the real King James Version of the Bible, these verses read as follows:

"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
1 Corinthians 6:9-10, KJV


From our previous word studies in this series, it should be obvious to you why the misguided QJB publishers have chosen to corrupt and pervert these verses. It is plain to see that with the two phrases "nor effeminate" and "nor abusers of themselves with mankind", the Apostle Paul is referring back to the Levitical Law's prohibition regarding homosexual sex. Let me refresh your memory by sharing those two verses with you again:

"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."
Leviticus 18:22, KJV


"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."
Leviticus 20:13, KJV


As we learned earlier, "lie with mankind" is referring to two men who are lying in bed together, and engaging in homosexual sex. Paul is simply using slightly different terminology when he writes "abusers of themselves with mankind". This phrase is derived from the Greek compound word "arsenokoites". Thayer's Greek English Lexicon informs us that it is formed by joining together the words "arsen" -- meaning a male or man -- with the word "koite", which means a bed or couch, to sleep with, to lie in bed with, or to have sexual intercourse with. It is from this latter word -- koite -- that we derive our English word "coitus", meaning of course, sexual intercourse. Consider the following definitions, as provided by the lexicon:

1) one who lies with a male as with a female, sodomite, homosexual

B. arrhen ar'-hrane, or arsen ar'-sane

1) a male

C. koite koy'-tay

   1a) a bed, couch
2) the marriage bed
   2a) of adultery
3) cohabitation, whether lawful or unlawful
   3a) sexual intercourse

There should be no misunderstanding then regarding exactly what the Apostle Paul means; unless, of course, you happen to be the deceived and misguided publishers of the Queen James Bible. So how do they try to wriggle out of this one? Believe it or not, but these deceivers fall back on the very same tactic that they have used all along; and that is their ridiculous claim that as it is translated in the King James Version of the Bible, the phrase is just too ambiguous. In fact, on their website, they describe the phrase as "One of the most famous homosexual Bible ambiguous interpretations."

My gosh! Why is it that every single verse in the Bible that exposes the sin of homosexuality is so ambiguous to them? It should be rather clear to you by now that these verses are only ambiguous to them, because they want them to be. As we have clearly witnessed, this is the primary excuse -- and a rather lame one at that -- which they have used to try to justify their perversion and corruption of God's Holy Word. Despite the fact that Thayer's Greek English Lexicon clearly reveals that "arsenokoites" refers to men who lay in bed and engage in sexual intercourse with other men, and that the phrase "abusers of themselves with mankind" is an accurate translation of the original Greek words, the QJB publishers insist that "arsenokoites" should be translated as "the male who has many beds".

Do you see what they are trying to do here? Whereas in other verses they have purposely inserted words in order to change the meaning of a verse, in this case, they are cutting out words and shortening the definition; because they know that to use the full definition confirms that the KJV translators got it right. In other words, if they want to translate the word "arsenokoites" as they have, then they should provide a full definition, which would be "the male who has many beds [with other men]". As I already said, the translators of the King James Bible understood this. That is why they included the words "with mankind" in this verse. Unlike the misguided QJB publishers, they fully understood that Paul -- who was a devout Pharisee, and who was thus very knowledgeable of the Mosaic and Levitical Laws -- was in fact quoting from the Book of Leviticus, where it also says "with mankind". It is the "with mankind" that the QJB publishers don't like; and that is why they are trying to change its meaning in every verse where it is found. Man with mankind is homosexual sex.

As we have seen time and time again, besides their repeated attempts to convince us that all of these verses are way too ambiguous, so they must be changed and updated, the second major way in which they have been endeavoring to distance and divorce sinful homosexual sex from all of these verses, is by purposely associating them with pagan temple worship and male temple prostitutes. They have repeatedly tried to narrow the meaning of each verse so that it appears as if they are only referring to these male prostitutes, and not to "regular" gay relationships that occur in the general populace. It appears that they just could not resist doing it yet again. It is not surprising then that on their website, they comment as follows:

"'Arsenokoitais' is likely referring to men who 'abuse themselves' with the child-aged male prostitutes common in pagan temples at the time."

----- End Quote -----

Do you see how they are once again intentionally trying to distance this verse from modern homosexual relationships? Not only do they endeavor to associate the verse with male temple prostitutes, but they had to make sure that we all understand that -- according to them at least -- this is a time-specific verse. Thus they add the phrase "at the time." In other words, the clear implication is that this verse has nothing to do with our modern times. It has nothing to do with the rampant, sinful gay and lesbian relationships that have thoroughly polluted modern society. This verse -- like all of the other verses which they have purposely corrupted -- is outdated. It is obsolete, they claim. They are simply following the very same pattern which they used to try to convince us that the moral code that is found in the Book of Leviticus is supposedly obsolete. The Apostle Paul obviously didn't think so; and that is why he purposely paraphrases the Levitical Laws in his first Epistle to the Corinthians.

So who are we to believe? The Apostle Paul, or these unknown Queen James Bible publishers? You know, as I sat here working on this series, it occurred to me that even though he lived almost two thousand years ago, I know more about Paul than I do about the publishers of the QJB. I know his family name and his Christian name. I know where he was born and raised. I know under whom he studied -- Gamaliel -- as well as what his religious background was. I know how he persecuted the First Century Church until he was converted by Jesus Himself on the road to Damascus. I know how his Christian ministry began. I know of the many struggles, trials and persecutions which he endured for the faith. I know of the many places to which he traveled in order to preach the Gospel, as well as the many churches which he helped to establish. I know of his legal problems, his various times in prison, and how he also appeared before Emperor Nero on at least two occasions. I know that he apparently gave his life for the Lord after living for about two years in Rome.

I know so much about the Apostle Paul without having ever met the man; and even though he lived two thousand years ago, his life and work is an open book. Yet as I noted earlier, I know absolutely nothing about these publishers of the Queen James Bible who live during my own time. So why in the world should I even trust anything they say, interpret or translate? Where are their credentials to prove to me that they truly are the "scholars" which they claim to be? Where are the real fruits of their labors, so that I can know with certainty that it is good fruit? Silence.

Returning to our discussion regarding 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, the second word which these QJB publishers willingly choose to butcher is "effeminate". We all know what the word means, and we sometimes make a hand gesture accompanied by a wink of the eye to signify that we are in the know regarding a certain person who is of that persuasion. In this verse, the word "effeminate" is derived from the Greek word "malakos". This word has two definitions. The first is a physical one and refers to the actual, literal softness of something. In other words, it means soft to the touch, as we see by these two verses:

"But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses."

"But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts."
Luke 7:25, KJV


According to Thayer's Greek English Lexicon, the only other place where this Greek word is found in the New Testament, is in the verse that we are currently discussing. However, in this verse, the word is used in a metaphorical sense to refer to a catamite; that is, a boy who is specifically kept for the purpose of engaging in homosexual acts. Strangely enough, the publishers of the blasphemous abomination known as the Queen James Bible do not mention this fact whatsoever on their website. They talk about soft cloth and weak women, but there is nothing about the metaphorical use of "malakos" to signify a boy who is kept for homosexual purposes. Now why is that?

As you no doubt suspect, the fact that the Apostle Paul so bluntly states that homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of God is totally unacceptable to the publishers of the QJB. After all, how in the world are they going to convince gays and lesbians to purchase their corrupted Bible if its very words condemn their sinful acts? So, after explaining to us all of the whys and wherefores on their website, and letting us know that they have once again tweaked these verses to their own liking in order to -- in their words -- "reflect this clarified understanding", they present us with the following butchered translation:

"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor morally weak, nor promiscuous, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
1 Corinthians 6:9-10, QJB


As you can see, that nasty, offensive word "effeminate" has been zapped by the publishers, and has been replaced with the much more gentle -- or should I say soft and neutral -- phrase "morally weak". Through this unwarranted edit, these people have totally knocked the punch out of that part of the verse, by replacing "effeminate" with a phrase which does not even fit the definition that is provided by the lexicon. In my opinion, it is totally out of place with the rest of the words that are used in this verse. In other words, in the original version of the verse, on both sides of "effeminate" we find some equally harsh words which are used to describe some serious sins which will prevent one from inheriting the Kingdom of God. However, in this updated QJB abomination, right in the middle of all of these harsh words, we now find this ambiguous phrase "morally weak".

Wait a minute! Haven't the publishers of the Queen James Bible been trying to pound into our heads that one of their primary goals is to remove all "interpretive ambiguity" from these particular verses? So what happened? Why are they now contradicting their own stated goals and backtracking? All of the other words in the verse have very specific meanings. We know what a fornicator is. We know what an idolater does. We know what adultery is. We know what a thief does. We know what drunks do. And on and on it goes. We also know what an effeminate person is, but they just had to take that one out because it is too specific and too offensive to homosexuals. Thus we get the nondescript "morally weak" in its place.

In fact, as you can see, these hypocrites do this not once, but twice in the very same verse. The harsh phrase "abusers of themselves with mankind" has likewise been expunged from the verse, and replaced with another very ambiguous, neutral word: "promiscuous". Who is being promiscuous? Exactly how are they being promiscuous? We have absolutely no idea. Is this their idea of a "clarified understanding"? Rather than clarify this verse, the QJB publishers have in fact clouded the issue even more; and intentionally, no less. What these misguided deceivers have in fact done is totally remove any hint or mention of homosexuality from these verses. As we have seen, that has been their stated goal all along. They want to make it impossible for the reader -- that is, gay and lesbian readers -- to find any hint of homosexuality in any of these Bible verses.
