BIBLE STUDY

When you read the Holy Bible,
Do you do it to prove your point?
Have you stopped to consider,
Your beliefs may be out of joint?
God’s Word is not merely a book,
Where we each pick and choose,
Some verses we can’t throw out,
While others we decide to use.
We can’t force an interpretation,
Just let the Bible explain itself,
If we want it to say what we wish,
Then leave that tome on the shelf.
But if we desire to know the truth,
Comparing verses we really need,
God will begin opening our eyes,
As we continue to faithfully read.
We should keep a receptive mind,
As the Spirit speaks to our heart,
He will link this verse to that one,
We will be off to a very good start.
When we use this correct method,
Everything falls into proper place,
Without us twisting and tweaking,
We are on a solid scriptural base.
Things which were hidden before,
Will suddenly come into the light,
One verse will confirm another,
And we will know we’ve got it right.
