LONELINESS

Many of us have at different times,
Known the sad mistress loneliness,
One of her jobs which she does well,
Is to absolutely steal our happiness.

How we fall into such a dismal state,
Just happens for so many a reason,
But one thing which we surely know,
Is that it is never a pleasant season.

We stop and think how many people,
Have a spouse, family, friends or pets,
But as for us we’ve got none of these,
And it can fill our hearts with regrets.

Perhaps we made a mistake before,
That led to our current sad situation.
Oh, yes, we are feeling so miserable,
There’s just no time for any jubilation.

But rather than place our eyes on us,
We require a different kind of solution,
It might begin with a very simple step,
That is, to offer ourselves absolution.

Now if we made some personal error,
We cannot remain trapped in the past,
For if we stay and don’t move forward,
This loneliness is guaranteed to last.

So lift your eyes up towards the Lord,
You really need to stop looking down,
Because if you do, I know for certain,
You will no longer be wearing a frown.

Now instead of thinking about yourself,
Find somebody else who has a need,
Then do your best to help them out,
And they will become a friend indeed.

Just like that your loneliness is gone,
A new friendship has now taken root,
As you can see it was not really hard,
To give that old mistress a final boot.
