POWER BILL BLUES

I tried so hard to get ahead,
Put some money in the bank,
Then my power bill arrived,
And man, it just really stank!

Turn off your water heater,
Sparingly use your lights,
Reduce your air con usage,
And yet that bill still bites.

Seems no matter what I do,
And tho I conserve everyday,
Regardless, sooner or later,
A higher bill I’ve got to pay.

So many empty promises,
We’ve heard them all before,
While they get a pay raise,
We all simply end up poor.

It’s just one endless circle,
Of frustration and despair,
One really has to wonder,
Do they even really care?

They say they’re in the red,
I don’t doubt that they are,
But also try to remember,
Our money only goes so far.

Solar, wind & ocean thermal,
Need to pick up the slack,
Because the high oil prices,
Are gonna break our back.
