ACTIVE SHOOTER

Yet another active shooter,
Just made the evening news,
Some folks don’t believe it,
They claim a political ruse.

Why so much gun violence?
It seems to come in waves,
And when it is finally over,
Innocents lie in their graves.

Something’s seriously wrong,
A dark cloud over the nation,
Loose cannons on the prowl,
An unhealthy gun fixation.

Each time an event occurs,
Pols have another photo op,
But as for all of the killings,
They don’t ever seem to stop.

Empty promises are made,
It’s just damage control mode,
While they all keep on talking,
Another killer is about to load.

So what is the real solution?
Will they take our guns away?
If G-men force a showdown,
It would be a very bloody day.

Citizens are armed to the hilt,
Government they don’t trust,
Some will fight for gun rights,
Until they are laid in the dust.

It’s such a precarious situation,
Heated tempers on each side,
How many more kids must die,
Before these two forces collide?
