CASHIER HAG
by Bill Kochman
10-15-2024
So I went to the grocery store,
And ran into this cashier hag,
Man, that gal just gave me lip,
When I asked for a plastic bag.
Then during the next minutes,
While my groceries she rings,
I glanced down into that cart,
At each of my shopping things.
My toothpaste in a plastic tube,
And my bread in a bag as well,
If it were not for all that plastic,
Some things they couldn’t sell.
Ketchup was in a plastic bottle,
Containers of honey plastic too,
Laundry soap in its plastic jug,
Without plastic we’d be through.
Yes, garbage bags were plastic,
My chicken was in a plastic tray,
Batteries sealed in plastic also,
Oh gosh, what more can I say?
Cat toys were made of plastic,
A carton of eggs in styrofoam,
Man, you know I was steaming,
As I carried all that stuff home.
But adding more insult to injury,
It makes understanding so hard,
When after she totals my items,
I have to pay with a plastic card!
