CONSEQUENCES

There must be consequences,
For the life we have each led,
But some refuse to believe it,
Just wait until they are dead.

Then they will suddenly know,
How wrong they have been,
When they stand before God,
Who then examines their sin.

Yes, our every word and deed,
Will receive a specific weight,
What things were done in love,
Which ones were done in hate.

Once our entire life is laid bare,
An attorney comes to the floor,
But, alas, you will not have one,
For Jesus you chose to ignore.

Sadly, you’ll stand there alone,
As you try to plead your case,
Telling God how good you are,
Who looks intently in your face.

Yet regardless of what you say,
Your innocence is a lost cause,
You committed many mistakes,
And lived a life filled with flaws.

You simply were not very smart,
When Jesus you didn’t receive,
Thus your life’s slate isn’t clean,
So for you there is no reprieve.

You must now bear the weight,
Of all the things you did wrong,
No standing before the Throne,
When they sing Salvation song.
