GOLDEN AGE

by Bill Kochman

02-18-2025

They promise us a golden age,
Where everything will be fair,
But frankly, I’ve got to wonder,
Is it from the prince of the air?

So much peace and prosperity,
We just won’t believe our eyes,
But as for me, I am skeptical,
Is it all one devilish pack of lies?

We know many centuries ago,
Pax Romana promised peace,
Enforcing their great strength,
Since then wars never cease.

Will every person have enough?
Is it possible violence will end?
And will respect and decency,
Truly become an ongoing trend?

They promise us a better world,
But what will be the actual price?
I caution that we tread carefully,
If I may offer this sound advice.
