TIME CRIME

Once there was this old woman,
Who enjoyed rising with the Sun,
For to her this was to be normal,
She wanted to be like everyone.

But alas, her tired, aging body,
Often did not do as she planned,
So while she wanted to be awake,
It made a “more sleep” demand.

Over and over that woman tried,
She would do so good for a spell,
But then she’d take a short nap,
And her plan would totally fail.

Oh how frustated she then grew,
She said it simply was not right,
This daytime sleep was nonsense,
When she wanted to rest at night.

Now this old lady had a dear son,
He knew she viewed it as a crime,
But he saw the issue another way,
His mother was a prisoner of time.

Thus, dear son set out to explain,
That she did not need to conform,
Regardless of what the world does,
She is free to make her own norm.

Yes, just sleep whenever you will,
Who cares what others may think?
Just keep up with your frustation,
And into a depression you may sink.

So now just relax and live each day,
Whether you see the Sun or Moon,
Knowing if you’ll accept this truth,
You will sing a much happier tune.
