“Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.” Isaiah 1:4-6, KJV
“But They Refused to Listen” KJV Bible Verse List:
This is an updated version of the original six-line poem which I wrote on September 10, 2012. This new, expanded version has twelve lines so that it matches the length of many of the other mini-poems I have written to date, although some are much longer than that as well.
“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:” 1 Timothy 6:20, KJV
“Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” James 3:5-6, KJV
“And there shall in no wise enter into it [the Heavenly City] any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” Revelation 21:27, KJV
“For without [without the Heavenly City] are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.” Revelation 22:15, KJV
“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:” 1 Timothy 6:20, KJV
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” Titus 3:5, KJV
“No Righteousness of Our Own” KJV Bible Verse List:
This funny poem was written for an online friend of mine who I have known for a few years. We were having a short chat regarding my style of poetry, and how I sometimes like to use literary — or poetic — forms of words. Just joking, I warned her that if she didn’t watch out, I’d right a poem about her.
Well, she thought that I was just kidding. So, knowing that she has a habit of being a night owl, I composed this poem about her easily in five minutes.
Now, I don’t really know if she spends her nights watching late TV shows. More than likely, being a fellow Christian, she is probably reading her Bible, or doing some other more productive thing. I honestly don’t know for certain, but the secret remains with her. 🙂
I don’t want to cause her any public embarrassment, so her name will remain anonymous. She’s just the “Night Owl”. 🙂
