OUT OF BALANCE

by Bill Kochman

07-30-2014

God is in the wind, rain and sunshine too,
In the green forests, and the oceans blue.
In the mountaintops, and the valleys below,
Creation is His, He wants us all to know.

All these great things, by Him came to be,
Proofs of His deep love, for all eternity.
But they mean nothing, if we turn from Him,
And yield to our pride, and the sin within.

All out of balance, done by our own hands,
Satan messed things up, had his dirty plans.
But God can restore us, reborn thru His Son,
Accept Christ today, let His will be done.

OUR SINS — a poem and song by Bill Kochman

OUR SINS

by Bill Kochman

11-24-2016

Our personal sins condemn us daily,
We know them intimately every one,
They endeavor to drag us all down,
From rising moon to the setting sun.

They tell us that we are not worthy,
And we should just give up the fight,
But there is something to remember,
The Blood of Jesus makes us alright.

So although we are far from perfect,
Oft times weak and not very strong,
By God’s Grace we shall continue,
Till we hear the great victory song.

OUR DEFENSE ATTORNEY

by Bill Kochman

12-12-2016

If you run a stop light,
You will get a citation,
If you don’t pay a fine,
It will mean damnation.

Our Heavenly Father too,
Operates in the same way,
A fine of certain death,
Waits if we don’t obey.

Keeping all God’s Laws,
Is not possible to do,
Jesus is our Attorney,
Who waived what is due.

OPIOID LOVER

by Bill Kochman

01-01-2017

Oh you just love your opioids,
They just take that pain away,
But are you taking way too many,
More than your doctor had to say?

Has need turned into addiction,
Convinced that so much is okay,
Have you so deceived yourself,
Thinking you won’t have to pay?

You thought that you could cheat,
And get your highs a legal way,
But if you keep popping pills,
You’ll meet the dirt someday.

#Poetry #Poem

ONLY BY HIS BLOOD

by Bill Kochman

05-12-2014

It used to be said, better dead than red,
But there’s another way to understand it,
Covered by His Blood, hides all our mud,
Or our sins, so we’re not left stranded.

For if we are not red, we’ll end up dead,
Eternal Life won’t be ours for the taking,
Our sins will accuse us, when Satan sues us,
So in needing Christ, there’s no mistaking.

Only by His Blood red, can it truly be said,
That forgiveness of sins can be acquired,
But if we believe not, in a place very hot,
One day we’ll surely find ourselves retired.

ONLINE LASSES

by Bill Kochman

09-29-2020

I never knew it would be like this,
When I finally reached my old age,
It seems all of the young ladies,
Absolutely think that I’m the rage.

I receive so many lovely invitations,
Man, I am just really so impressed,
Because these online women are eager,
Before me they want to get undressed.

Wow, I look at my notifications menu,
It is bursting with dozens of invites,
I guess I don’t really need to worry,
This man won’t be having lonely nights.

My friends, yes, I am of course joking,
It’s truly sad the way these folks act,
Half of them are most likely not women,
And it’s doubtful that they are stacked.

So if you suddenly receive such messages,
I urge you to be smart and to take care,
These people are just out for your money,
They use sexy pics to trap you, so beware.

ONLINE BULLYING

by Bill Kochman

11-25-2016

Some people can be so aggressive,
They bully others left and right,
With no regard for their feelings,
Online it’s such a terrible plight.

Hiding in the Internet’s shadows,
They abandon measuring their word,
Attacking much more delicate souls,
With a ferociousness never heard.

But such behavior leads to tragedy,
When harsh words cut like a knife,
Some people just can’t handle it,
They may end up taking their life.

ONE SCREW LOOSE

by Bill Kochman

01-05-2017

“Life after death?” they all mock,
“You really got one screw loose”,
But what they just don’t realize,
It will be their head in the noose.

They think that I’m just so crazy,
With all my endless talk of God,
But they won’t be laughing someday,
When the Lord pulls out His rod.

So go ahead and call me a big fool,
Or whatever name is in your book,
You’ll be cast out into darkness,
While I drink from the Holy Brook.

ONE OR THE OTHER

by Bill Kochman

10-02-2019

Why are you in denial,
Of the body you possess,
We are all male or female,
Yes, no more and no less.

Now, when I look at you,
I see only a guy or a gal,
So all of your confusion,
It surely comes from Hell.

Our God made no mistake,
In the body that He gave,
Whether you like it or not,
You’ll take it to the grave.

You’re clearly not a “we”,
Nor a “they” or even an “it”,
So please accept your gender,
And all this nonsense quit.

ONE

by Bill Kochman

12-16-2016

Jesus prayed that we’d be united,
Only one Shepherd and one flock,
Paul too said one mind, one faith,
But now look how Christians talk.

Satan has the Church so divided,
Strange doctrines more than a few,
If Jesus came this very day & hour,
I wonder what He would really do.

A firm rebuke might be on His mind,
I think this would indeed be fair,
It’s time to get our house in order,
This disunity we can no longer bear.

OLD PEOPLE

by Bill Kochman

04-16-2014

Old people, they say, are from another time,
They’re useless has-beens, not worth a dime.
Merely a drain on Earth’s limited resources,
Like racetrack animals, retired old horses.

Just push them aside, make room for the rest,
Pretend they’re not there, hope for the best.
But foolish are those who think in this way,
For their elders have many wise things to say.

A life full of lessons learned from the Lord,
We’d be better off taking heed to their word.
Special treasures in our very midst are they,
For His reasons, God has allowed them to stay.

OLD MAN MOSES — a poem and song by Bill Kochman

#Poetry #Poem

OLD MAN MOSES

by Bill Kochman

11-28-2017

Oh yes, that old man Moses,
We have all heard his tale,
How God gave him a mission,
He thought that he would fail.

When the Lord called to him,
From a bush that was on fire,
Sore afraid Moses answered,
Oh God, but I am not for hire!

I don’t even know Your Name,
And I can hardly even speak,
Surely You are just mistaken,
About the one You really seek.

Those Israelites won’t accept,
I am a messenger sent by God,
They’ll think that I am crazy,
Or at least a rather bit odd.

Yet despite his reservations,
Moses did as he’d been shown,
It was obviously so pointless,
For him to just moan and groan.

So armed with a shepherd’s staff,
And some miracles up his sleeve,
Dear Moses marched off to Egypt,
To find out who would believe.

As many Christians already know,
God did wonders in that land,
After Pharaoh had been humbled,
They were freed by His own hand.

OLD BAG

by Bill Kochman

10-14-2020

I don’t drink coffee, and I don’t drink tea,
I don’t drink water, that is from the sea.
Now there’s a good reason, you see I’m old,
So only certain things, my stomach can hold.

Some of you out there, will know what I mean,
I am no longer running, a brand new machine.
It’s got its groans, and it’s got its creaks,
And sometimes, man, it just so really reeks.

I’m not being funny, and I’m not being crude,
I speak the truth, I am really one old dude.
Now you may say, “Oh, it won’t happen to me”,
Just give it years, and you will likewise see.

God gives us each, a certain number of years,
Some days are happy, while others bring tears.
But one of these days, and God surely knows,
The last page comes, and our book will close.

OIL OF THE SPIRIT

by Bill Kochman

08-30-2014

A fish cast out of water,
Will not last very long,
A bird with no singing,
Would be a very sad song.

A frog without his croak,
Would be so strange indeed,
So it is with God’s children,
Of His Spirit we have need.

Without His anointing oil,
We’re so helpless and small,
We won’t burn very brightly,
No one will notice us at all.

OH THIS BODY!

by Bill Kochman

04-15-2014

Out of the Spirit, and in the flesh,
Oh this body can be such a mess.
Quite often sick, other times tired,
It makes it hard, to stay inspired.

Moanin’ n’ groanin’, it won’t give in,
Old man fights new man, who will win?
But God knows best, He has a reason,
Giving us a body, for a short season.

It is His way, to perform His Will,
Reaching others who need Jesus still.
So keep busy for now, and never doubt,
Day comes when our lights will go out.

OH SINFUL NATION!

by Bill Kochman

11-09-2014

Right down the tubes, old Uncle Sam went,
All of God’s Mercy, he foolishly spent.
Passing laws, which angered the Most High,
Then with audacity, he asks God “Why?”.

Killing unborn babies, oh what a crime,
Judgment is coming, God shortens the time.
Take God out of school, and public square,
Other religions are fine, it is so unfair.

Men marry men, and women do the same,
Flaunting their sins, brings us all shame.
Oh sinful nation, repent while you can,
Your Uncle Sam, is just a dirty old man.

ODDBALL REBEL

by Bill Kochman

08-21-2014

I am just an oddball rebel,
A square peg in a round hole,
Tho my body’s falling apart,
I am still young in my soul.

I seem to have a big mouth,
I say exactly what I believe,
Some folks find me offensive,
Well I say get up and leave!

I refuse to cut any corners,
So the Word I share straight,
Truth without compromise,
Would you care for a plate?

NOW I LAY ME

by Bill Kochman

09-10-2012

Now I lay me down to rest,
I pray the Lord I’ve done my best.
I gave this day unto You,
Thank you Lord, You saw me through.

Nothing lacked, my needs were met,
From early dawn, until sunset.
You gave me life another day,
To walk along Your narrow way.

Now I sleep, I close my eyes,
Renew my strength, for new sunrise.
With Your thoughts now inspire me,
That morrow’s work, may please thee.

NOT SO SMART

by Bill Kochman

11-24-2016

When we’re young we think we’re so smart,
Well, much more so than that old fart.
He just sits there with a great big grin,
We have no idea exactly where he’s been.

So we ignore the great wisdom he shares,
Nobody even looks at him, nobody cares.
We get into trouble, stew in our juice,
And soon we’re hanging in our own noose.

We’re not so smart after all, it seems,
That old man with a knowing look beams.
So next time we’ll listen to his advice,
And not be so cocky, and be more nice.

NOT SO FINE HEART

by Bill Kochman

12-15-2016

No one really has a good heart,
No matter what anyone has to say,
Bible gives us a different story,
That can be hard to swallow today.

Moses warns us first in Genesis,
“Only evil continually”, he wrote,
Also that young Prophet Jeremiah,
“Desperately wicked” was his note.

Adultery, fornication and murder,
Also arise from our heart within,
Deception, pride and foolishness,
Are other types of heart-born sin.
