FISH STORY

by Bill Kochman

08-29-2014

I saw a poignant movie,
It filled me with sad regret,
It was the story of a fish,
Caught in a trapper’s net.

Although in vain it struggled,
It so wanted to be free,
The minutes slowly passed by,
But it failed to reach the sea.

Then in great shock I realized,
That the poor fish indeed was I,
The Devil was the vile trapper,
Who had caught me with his lie.

FIRST DEGREE MURDER

by Bill Kochman

06-08-2019

I did not see it coming,
That monster had a knife,
He had but one mission,
To take away my life.

I could not understand it,
What had I done so wrong?
My mother did not want me,
Though she was so far along.

I thought that you loved me,
And that you really cared,
Can’t you see I am dying?
Mom, I am so very scared.

Then I felt so much pain,
As my limbs ripped apart,
Mother please don’t do it,
Why don’t you have a heart?

Blackness now surrounds me,
My life is slipping away,
But mom, I still love you,
Will I see you again someday?

FIREWALKERS — a poem and song by Bill Kochman

FIREWALKERS

by Bill Kochman

05-05-2014

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego,
Were servants of the Most High God,
They observed Jewish kosher laws,
Which their captors found quite odd.

But so fair and wise were those boys,
That they had favor before the king,
And though all went well for a spell,
There arose a very serious thing.

They dare not bow to the false gods,
Which stirred up the king’s great ire,
Thus even though he liked those lads,
He yelled “Throw them into the fire!”

Full of wrath the king then barked,
“Make it much hotter than before,
Now bind those boys and throw them in,
Quick! Push shut that furnace door!”

Even though the men seemed so doomed,
God had quite another plan.
For when the king looked in the blaze,
There stood one like the Son of Man!

So because of their obedience,
Nothing befell those three young men,
No singed hair nor smell of smoke,
They just came right back out again.

FIRE OR INSPIRE? — a poem and song by Bill Kochman

#Poetry #Poem

FIRE OR INSPIRE?

by Bill Kochman

05-23-2018

Jesus is coming before the Trib.,
So some Christians like to claim,
But if they’re wrong, He’s no-show,
Are they willing to take the blame?

Yet others say He’ll come Mid-Trib.,
Of this they all seem so very sure,
But if there is no Guy in the sky,
They’ll have to be shown the door.

Then there is yet one other group,
Folks call them the Post-Tribbers,
But if there is no trumpet call,
I guess they will all be fibbers.

Now before you get all riled up,
My point here is not to debate,
Arguing doctrine is not my thing,
In fact, it is something I hate.

The truth that you need to see,
Is that doctrines can divide us,
But we are of the same family,
If Christ’s Spirit is truly inside us.

So go slow and guard your tongue,
Before you raise a voice and fire,
Instead of cutting someone down,
Maybe you should try to inspire.

FIGHT! — a poem and song by Bill Kochman

#Poetry #Poem

FIGHT!

by Bill Kochman

12-14-2018

We say we believe in Jesus,
We asked Him into our heart,
Yet we often go astray,
And wander so far apart.

Ungodly things entice us,
As the world draws us away,
Doing things we should not,
It is a battle every day.

We seem to lose our fire,
And into a rut we fall,
Our motivation is lacking,
We no longer obey His call.

Our flesh versus the Spirit,
Our mind fights sin within,
Old man versus the new man,
God’s Grace helps us to win.

It is a never-ending war,
But to win it you must fight,
There is no vacation for you,
So battle with all your might.

FIGHT WE MUST

by Bill Kochman

04-07-2014

Tho man or demon wage war against us,
Tho hell endeavors to engulf us,
Fight we must!

Tho both kin and friends do desert us,
Tho city fathers persecute us,
Fight we must!

Tho unbelievers rage and blame us,
Tho liars try their best to frame us,
Fight we must!

Tho death conspires to defeat us,
Tho doubts too often greet us,
Fight we must!

FIGHT FEAR

by Bill Kochman

11-24-2016

Fear just makes it impossible,
To do the things we need to do,
It keeps us from getting started,
So we will never see it through.

Paralyzed by all of the things,
That we imagine could go wrong,
We don’t get out of the corner,
Our words never become a song.

But God says to resist that spirit,
Don’t let it get inside your head,
Spend more time reading His Word,
Let it fill you with faith instead.

FEET PLANTED FIRMLY

by Bill Kochman

01-11-2017

If you accept the challenge,
On the path of Life Eternal,
You must be prepared to fight,
All manner of forces infernal.

A war is waged in the Spirit,
When we choose the Lord’s way,
Many temptations distract us,
God’s Spirit helps us to stay.

Keep your feet planted firmly,
Do not look to left or right,
Remain on God’s path always,
Until Heaven is in your sight.

FEET CARE

by Bill Kochman

11-26-2017

When God gave us humans two feet,
A warning label He did not include,
He didn’t tell us that if not washed,
A foul stench they’d eventually exude.

Thus there have been so many victims,
When people take off shoes and socks,
Countless folks have already perished,
And have wound up in a six-foot box.

So as you can obviously now understand,
It’s important to take care of our toes,
We need to scrub those dainties often,
Lest something terrible therein grows.

FEED MY SHEEP

by Bill Kochman

11-30-2016

If you love me, the Lord once said,
You must diligently feed my sheep,
For God’s Word isn’t to be withheld,
It’s by no means ours alone to keep.

We must liberally spread God’s seed,
So it may grow in the hearts of men,
And when the time of harvest comes,
Angels shall reap much fruit then,

But if we fail God’s sheep to feed,
The Lord will be most disappointed,
He will look us sternly in the face,
And say “My child, you were anointed.”

FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD

by Bill Kochman

01-14-2017

The Federal Reserve Board,
Oh what a government-sounding name,
But they are not a federal agency,
And can really make no such claim.

They are powerful private bankers,
Yielding very sharp economic knives,
Their unchallenged fiscal policies,
Cut deep right into our very lives.

From minimum wage to grocery prices,
Interest on loans and so much more,
They determine how money affects you,
And leave you rich or else very poor.

FATHER’S WILL

by Bill Kochman

08-13-2014

Father’s Will shall prevail,
No matter what we do or say,
If we whine, cry, complain,
He will still have His way.

We say we know much better,
But if we dare to go astray,
He will simply chastise us,
Yes, we will have to pay.

Learn the lesson well here,
It’s better for us to obey,
He’ll lead us thru darkness,
To a much brighter day.

FATHER — a poem and song by Bill Kochman

#Poetry #Poem

FATHER

by Bill Kochman

01-05-2017

They insist we should call God,
By an Old Testament Hebrew name,
But in all of the four Gospels,
Jesus never quite did the same.

Thus, when He taught us to pray,
In the well-known Lord’s Prayer,
We see the words “Our Father”,
Is what is really written there.

When Jesus prayed in the Garden,
Right before the Jews Him abused,
He did not use some Hebrew word,
“Father” is exactly what He used.

Over and over again we can see it,
“My Father”, “Your Father”, right?
But as for a certain Hebrew name,
It’s just simply nowhere in sight.

So Jesus was our primary example,
And we should do exactly as He did,
I won’t get hung up on the Hebrew,
Or debate it like some little kid.

The other New Testament writers,
Followed this same line of thought,
There’s no sign of a Hebrew name,
They used “God” and “Father” a lot.

These are merely a few examples,
I could give you so many more,
But my point is already clear,
Throw your legalism out the door.

FAME GAME

by Bill Kochman

04-17-2014

In our fallen world, everywhere it’s the same,
People so obsessed, with trying to make a name.
But how some go about it, is really a shame,
Power sex and money, are tools in their game.
Climbing over others, to grasp elusive fame,
No one is concerned, no one takes the blame.

In a crazy struggle, striving for their goal,
Caring for their body, but denying their soul.
But alas such madness, will surely take a toll,
Some die in the process, and end up in a hole.
Forget their foolish game, let go of the pole,
Better turn to Jesus, let Him make you whole.

FALSE PROPHETS — a poem and song by Bill Kochman

FALSE PROPHETS

by Bill Kochman

05-20-2018

“Jesus is coming back very soon!”
So we have heard for many years,
False prophets fill our nation,
They just love tickling our ears.

Now when something comes to pass,
Among us a true Prophet has been,
But as for all of those others,
They commit such a terrible sin.

While they claim to know something,
They really know nothing at all,
Such wise words were well written,
By that grand, old Apostle Paul.

So don’t seek to be many masters,
To do so you are a fool at best,
When your words fall to the ground,
We’ll know you didn’t pass the test.

God’s Word tells us to avoid you,
Because He did not send you along,
While you claim to be His prophet,
You’re really singing your own song.

By your fruits we shall know you,
Jesus himself set down this rule,
It is time to hang up your cloak,
And stop being the Devil’s tool.

Paul wrote let God alone be true,
But let every man be just a liar,
Please stop your false prophecies,
Or you may well end up in the fire.

FALSE ASSUMPTION

by Bill Kochman

11-29-2016

Looking back o’er the years,
When you fussed and fumed,
God has surely abandoned me,
How you so wrongly assumed.

Though you did not see Him,
And feared the rising tide,
He has always been with you,
And constantly by your side.

It is you who stepped away,
In His shadow failed to abide,
And simply ignored His voice,
Even though He often tried.

FALLEN

by Bill Kochman

07-02-2015

Our land grows dark, there is no doubt,
Lacking repentance, her light goes out.
Right is wrong, and wrong is now right,
Yielding to sin has brought this plight.

The fear of the Lord in many has cooled,
Satan’s lies have this nation so fooled.
Our forefathers came to serve the Lord,
But now so many have abandoned His Word.

God is patient, but He is likewise just,
Turn back to Him, or be ground to dust.
God is not willing that any should fall,
He gives us a choice, now it’s our call.

FAITHFUL STEWARD

by Bill Kochman

12-08-2016

Are you a faithful steward of God’s Word,
Have you made certain people have heard,
About God’s wonderful and amazing love,
And the Salvation sent down from above?

Are you faithful with all of your tasks,
Do you do everything that the Lord asks,
Without hesitation, the best you’re able,
Do you truly place your all on the table?

If you do, the Lord will say “Well done”,
He’ll embrace you warmly as a beloved son,
Plus there’s a Garment and your Crown too,
To enjoy forever when this life is through.

FAITH, TRUST & PATIENCE

by Bill Kochman

01-08-2017

Why do so many all rush about?
Because they haven’t any trust,
But to even be able to do that,
Deep faith in God is a must.

We can’t slow down, be patient,
Without confidence in the Lord,
It is knowing He is in control,
Taking our time we can afford.

But if we grow too impatient,
And rely on our own strength,
We’ll fall down on our faces,
And make a big mess at length.

FAITH FOR TODAY

by Bill Kochman

12-09-2016

I don’t have faith for tomorrow,
Much less for the coming week,
I just have faith for right now,
In this very moment that I speak.

Jesus said don’t fret the morrow,
Because there’s enough evil today,
So if you don’t want grey hairs,
Just listen to what He has to say.

Simply trust God in the present,
And don’t worry about what may be,
Your life will have more peace,
And you will live more joyfully.
