PROMISES, PROMISES

Have you ever stopped to notice,
How those politicians operate?
Pledging to keep their promises,
But not until some future date.

“Vote for me!” they like to shout,
And I will surely get the job done,
But after they have won election,
The promises kept are not a one.

And yet the strangest thing of all,
Is that when promises are made,
They already have a federal job,
And they’re being quite well paid.

So the real question we must ask.
Is why they promise so far ahead,
Shouldn’t they fix problems now,
Before so many are already dead?

Thus the key point I want to make,
Is the folly of trusting in such men,
If they don’t resolve issues today,
Why even trust them to do it then?
