SOCIAL PSYCHOSIS

by Bill Kochman

It started out so very innocently,
You thought you were in control,
But before long you were trapped,
As they sucked at your poor soul.

You promised yourself to be safe,
By carefully monitoring your time,
But your vow did not last too long,
So you commit social network crime.

You opened an account everywhere,
Many passwords now fill your head,
Minutes soon turn into long hours,
As you catch up on what’s not read.

Fast food sits all over your desk,
You just can’t pull yourself away,
So sucked in by your online world,
You don’t know if it is night or day.

Look at all the money you’ve spent,
For sponsored ads & to be verified,
You’re now social king of the world,
But they have taken you for a ride!

So hooked you cannot break away,
Your social addiction is too strong,
Deceived by the persona you made,
You don’t realize something is wrong.

Posts, tweets and truths everywhere,
Which ones should you answer first?
Meanwhile private messages pile up,
Your poor head may very soon burst.

Though you should just take a rest,
Social addiction will not let you go,
But if do not slow down your pace,
You may just wind up six feet below.
