SPOOKY SPIRIT

by Bill Kochman

You can shake, rattle and roll,
Yeah, you can grind and bump,
But when the spirit fills me,
Boy, I really know how to jump.

The spirit grabs me so strongly,
I’m rollin’ all over the floor,
But some folks think I’m crazy,
So they run right for the door.

Then before long I am howlin’,
Yeah, barkin’ just like a dog,
The spirit takes control of me,
I’m hoppin’ just like some frog.

The spiritual life is so fine,
I love it when I lose control,
Stompin’ and yellin’ so loudly,
It makes me feel really whole.

I get to twitchin’ and shakin’,
Strange words are in my mouth,
People stare at me strangely,
As if my mind has gone south.

Friend, that isn’t God’s Spirit,
It’s just a counterfeit at best,
You need to rebuke those demons,
It is time you gave it a rest.

So much racket you are making,
How can God even begin to talk,
You need to stop and take time,
To examine your spiritual walk.

The true Spirit is often quiet,
It has no need to make a show,
It’s gentle, peaceful, humble,
You just really need to know.
