TIT FOR TAT
by Bill Kochman

Well just look at the pols,
It is all simply tit for tat,
Something is not right,
I think I smell a dirty rat.
Well, the left claims this,
While the right says that,
So much like a magician,
With a rabbit in his hat.
Let’s be perfectly clear,
GovGuam is way too fat,
But as for that pari, pari,
It’s really one dug-in cat.
EXPLANATION: On the island of Guam, “pari pari” is the local Chamorro phrase which signifies political nepotism, or a GovGuam employee who hires other family members or close friends as a favor to them. The phrase “pari pari” is derived from the Chamorro word “kumpaire” which refers to a grandfather. In turn, “kumpaire” is derived from the Spanish word “compadre” which means the same thing.
