UNITY LOST

by Bill Kochman

Well a long, long time ago,
In a land so very far away,
Christians were all united,
They agreed what to say.

But then legalists crept in,
Some false brethren too,
Introducing strange ideas,
A confusing doctrinal stew.

The Apostles worked hard,
To weed out all the goats,
But wolves can be sneaky,
If they hide in sheep coats.

The Church was fractured,
Denominations were born,
And so for many years now,
Division has been our thorn.

The old unity disappeared,
On so few things we agree,
Ask one hundred preachers,
And you will assuredly see.

A Church that is so divided,
Is a Church that’s very weak,
Unlike those early Christians,
With 1 voice we don’t speak.

Old Satan must be so happy,
To see such a doctrinal mess,
If there is any quick solution,
I am clueless I must confess.
