GOD’S GOOFY GUYS

I am one of God’s goofy guys,
Many nonbelievers despise.
I can be silly and quirky,
And maybe a little jerky.
Some may say that I’m a fool,
But I’m really just God’s tool.
It wasn’t I who took this role,
It was God who touched my soul.
He said “Go!” What could I do?
“Feed my sheep!” Oh that’s you!
So this I do, day after day,
Despite what those goats say.

GOD’S FORCES

Fire, water, wind and sunshine,
God’s great forces on the Earth,
Man builds his greatest cities,
These four decide their worth.
Nothing can stand against them,
With time they take their toll,
They crumble every structure,
Destroying what had been whole.
Only the things of the Spirit,
Were designed forever to last,
Everything else is forgotten,
Becoming the dust of the past.

GOD’S CARE

As I look back o’er my life,
One thing becomes so clear,
Through every trial I faced,
The Father was always near.
Even when I knew it not,
He silently held my hand,
And tho at times I fell down,
I would still safely land.
Our God works in such a way,
We hardly know He is there,
Like a hen with her chicks,
He keeps us in His care.
It really is no wonder then,
I am still with you today,
Thanks be to Father above,
What else can I truly say?

GOD’S ANTIDOTE

They say that you are stubborn,
More so than a mountain goat,
And though you too are a sinner,
You won’t take God’s antidote.
It’s time to stop being foolish,
Listen to what Prophets wrote,
Forsake your ridiculous pride,
And get into God’s fireproof boat.
But if you just refuse to listen,
Then I offer you one final note,
Wicked shall be turned into hell,
And that, my friend, is a quote.

GOD WILL WORK THINGS OUT

Sometimes things happen in our lives,
Which may cause us to worry and fret,
When that happens to you, my friend,
There’s something you shouldn’t forget.
Even though a fierce storm may rage,
That fills you with fear and doubt,
Our Father in Heaven remains faithful,
And God will always work things out.
That old Devil will try to spook you,
Oh yes, how he will scream and shout,
But stand your ground, don’t give in,
Because God will always work things out.
So should the winds howl like demons,
And the rough waves toss you about,
Just keep your eyes on Heaven above,
Because God will always work things out.

GOD WILL PROVIDE

God promises to provide our needs,
If we are faithful to sow His seeds.
That means keeping busy for the Lord,
Doing what we can, to share His Word.
No putting the cart before the horse,
That would be rather silly of course.
We need to get off our lazy behind,
And show God we are the on-fire kind.
If we seek first His Kingdom stuff,
He’ll make sure we always have enough.
So this is the way God’s plan works,
There is no room for dead-beat jerks.

GOD IS NOT A MONSTER

God is not some kind of monster,
Just waiting to strike us down,
He sees how folks describe Him,
And it really makes Him frown.
Yes, He is indeed a good parent,
He’ll chastise us if we are bad,
But most of all He just loves us,
And wants to make our hearts glad.
Some people just try to scare us,
They only put fear in our hearts,
God’s Word exposes this deception,
Fear is just one of Satan’s darts.

GOD IS NEAR

When we think we are alone,
God still sees all our tears,
He knows of our deep sadness,
He beholds our greatest fears.
Tho we sometimes do forget it,
We are in the palm of His Hand,
He gives us strength and courage,
Our every battle to withstand.
Although He may seem silent,
He is never really far away,
We can approach Him quickly,
All we have to do is pray.

GOD IS IN CONTROL

Why do you even worry,
When God is in control,
He made the Universe,
Yes, every living soul.
So carefully balanced,
All things by His will,
Stars, planets and moons,
The cattle on every hill.
Even your very own life,
Rests in His great hand,
Your hairs are all numbered,
Like every grain of sand.
He will never cast you out,
God is faithful and true,
Regardless of what happens,
He’ll always see you through.
Tho sometimes you may fall,
God will soften the blow,
It is all part of His plan,
To help you learn and grow.
So trust Him for the future,
Even when all seems so dark,
You’ll rise above the waves,
God is your spiritual Ark.

Even though at times life may look dim,
Waves overflow you, so you cannot swim,
Doubts assail you, you’re out on a limb,
Remember, God is always there.
When this life pounds on you oh so hard,
When the Devil plays his very best card,
When your vessel seems ruined and marred,
Remember, God is always there.
He is your potter, He is not far away,
His eye is on you, you will be okay,
Hell shan’t confound you, come what may,
Because God is always there.

Oft times is looks so black,
But don’t you worry or fear,
Because God has got your back.
When adversity strikes you,
And tries to push you off-track,

Instead, go on the attack.

So fight on to the victory,

GO-BETWEEN

We all have quite often heard it said,
Believe in Jesus, to Heaven we’ll go,
But so many people still have doubts,
Why it’s necessary they want to know.
Well the answer’s really quite simple,
The basic issue comes down to our sin,
Due to a corrupt and imperfect status,
A righteous God simply can’t let us in.
Only by the Blood of a Lamb unblemished,
Could our imperfections be washed clean,
And thus Jesus sacrificed His own life,
He’s our Defense Attorney and Go-Between.

GIVE THANKS ALWAYS

Giving thanks always for all things,
Is what God’s Word tells us to do,
The Lord’s daily blessings are many,
Certainly much more than just a few.
But how often we become neglectful,
We forget them, murmur and complain,
How dare we become that ungrateful,
And view His gifts with such disdain.
Lord forgive us for all our murmurs,
Help us make our wicked hearts right,
Return to us a spirit of thankfulness,
And find forgiveness in Your sight.

GIVE ME THE TRUTH

In a world ruled by deception and lies,
It’s easy for us to become confused.
Truth is twisted, distorted, perverted,
Is it any wonder we feel so used?
Black is now white, and night is day,
And two plus two doesn’t equate to four.
The world has gone mad, it is so sad,
I just can’t take the craziness anymore.
But I’m happy to say I’ve found the way,
To clear up this mindboggling confusion.
The truth is found in God’s Holy Word,
Which melts all of the world’s delusion.

GIVE IT YOUR ALL

One thing God requires of stewards,
Is that we are faithful to the end,
We cannot serve Him half-heartedly,
And it’s totally useless to pretend.
He requires that we give it our all,
Just as His Son did for us as well,
So thankful Jesus went full-length,
Because now we are saved from Hell.
So practice this kind of dedication,
Make each day count and do your best,
Someday you’ll have a Crown waiting,
When you go Home to take your rest.

GIRLIE MAG SEX

A lust of the flesh, is what it is,
Just an overpowering sexual desire,
The more you look at pornography,
Even bigger grows the lustful fire.
Adultery again and again, that is,
Without having to pay a real price,
Having sex with your magazine pics,
Probably seems to be safe and nice.
But you’d really be much better off,
If you had an actual marriage mate,
So why don’t you get off your butt,
And take a girl out on a decent date.

GIFTED

Some people are apt to tell me,
“Oh you are such a gifted man”,
But we all have specific talents,
Given to us by God’s own hand.
The secret is for us to discover,
What are the gifts we may possess,
Then cultivate them, don’t squander,
So with them the world we can bless.
No, don’t hide them under a bushel,
For the Lord this will not please,
Use all your gifts for His glory,
And then thank Him on bended knees.

GIDEON

There was once a man from Ophrah,
Gideon was the young lad’s name,
An Angel appeared under an oak,
Then that boy began to complain.
If the Lord GOD really be with us,
As in all the glorious days past,
Then why do Midianites afflict us?
Such was the question he did ask.
You shall indeed smite your enemy,
Thus was the answer he did receive,
But I am the least in my own house,
How am I even supposed to believe?
So the Lord gave the youth a sign,
After a meal for the Angel he made,
A fire then came up out of the rock,
And consumed the food where it laid.
The same night the LORD spoke to him,
Throw down your dad’s altar to Baal,
Build another unto the LORD instead,
And cut down your dad’s grove as well.
Gideon did as he had been commanded,
But the people didn’t like this thing,
They wanted to kill that brave boy,
Joash, your son to us you must bring.
But Dad firmly defended his own son,
Let Baal plead for himself he said,
So the townsfolk then all backed down,
And dear Gideon didn’t lose his head.
But doubts yet lingered in his heart,
So he twice tested with the fleece,
Both times God answered affirmative,
Which gave Gideon’s heart some peace.
Now once he had gathered his armies,
The LORD said there are too many men,
They will take credit for the victory,
We must cut back their numbers again.
The fearful were ordered to go home,
Yet 10,000 soldiers still remained,
But after conducting the water test,
Only 300 fighters had Gideon retained.
Despite the tiny size of Israel’s army,
We know the Midianites were done in,
God is not limited by small numbers,
The Lord of Hosts will always win.

GET UP AND FIGHT!

You can complain, and you can rant,
You can whine, that you just can’t,
But if God gave you something to do,
His Grace will help you see it through.
Quitters don’t win, winners don’t quit,
And that is really the gist of it,
So get off your lazy behind,
And prove you’re the fighting kind.
God will reward you, it is sure,
But show Him that you can endure,
Up from the ground, no moping around,
It’s time to get back into this war.

GET OFF YOUR BUTT!

Why waste your time, being down in the dump,
With Satan laughing, and kicking your rump?
Feeling self-pity, is just losing ground,
Admitting defeat, without making a sound.
Get off your butt, and start fighting back,
Rebuke the Devil, and go on the attack.
Charge forward, in the power of God’s might,
Praise the Lord, that snake will take flight.
That demon can’t win, he’s already lost,
‘Cause Jesus Himself, paid the Great Cost.
Be the soldier, that God called you to be,
Battle in faith, and claim the victory.
