Bible Study Resources:

Some Flat Earthers are so extreme in their views, that they are convinced that the planets do not even exist, and that they are merely a lie and an invention of NASA. In fact, such extremists will even go so far as to claim that NASA is derived from the Hebrew word "nachash" -- which means "serpent" -- and that therefore, NASA is pure evil. However, this is a clear perversion of the truth, and a twisting of the Scriptures, because "nachash" is not even pronounced the same as NASA.

Regardless, because these Flat Earthers cannot find the word "planets" specifically mentioned in the Bible, they insist that planets are not real. However, by embracing this position, they expose their own ignorance. Why is this? It is because they are merely reading on the surface -- that is, the black and white text they see with their eyes -- and fail to invest the time in studying the underlying Hebrew, Aramaic and Koine Greek words, upon which our English Bible stands.

If they were to do that, they would discover that in the New Testament, in his sole epistle, Jude does in fact briefly mention planets, and how they wander through the heavens. Furthermore, the ancient Greeks were well aware of the major planets. However, to the casual Bible reader, this mention of planets in the Scriptures would not be apparent, because what Jude wrote is not translated into English as the word "planets". Rather, the Koine Greek was translated in a way in which the ancient Greeks understood the issue. Thus, in Jude 1:13 we find the phrase "wandering stars", as we see here:

"For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ . . . Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever."
Jude 1:4, 13, KJV

In the previous verses, the phrase "wandering stars" is translated from the Koine Greek "planetes aster". Yes, friends, "PLANETES aster". In actual Greek letters, the phrase is written as "πλανήτης ἀστήρ". Thus we see that planets truly are mentioned in the Bible, if we take the time to more thoroughly investigate.

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:"
Romans 1:20, KJV
